Kobolds are a small reptilian race that seems to be remotely related to demodragons. Some legends suggest that Kobolds might have been created by other draconic races as lowly servants; one way or another, most Kobolds consider themselves as descendants of the dragons, and often even venerate the dreadful monsters as deities.
They are covered in thin scales that can vary in colour from earthly tones to greys and bronzes or deep reds, blues, yellows or greens. Their heads are adorned in short horns that vary from straight to twisted or curved, and sometimes they also develop small spikes on their backs. It is hard for non-reptilian species to tell their males and females apart, as their sexual dimorphism is minimal, mostly limited to wider hips for females. They are oviparous, and their communities tend collectively to the broods. Hatchlings grow quickly and reach maturity in about three years.
Kobolds prefer to live underground in their own cave-citites or repurposing pre-existent ruins and dungeons; while they don't grow crops, they do often plant and tend to orchards near their settlements to supplement their omnivorous diet; aside from that, they're known for raising rats, worms and cockroaches as livestock.
Kobolds are by nature cautious, and wary of other species; therefore, they're not an usual sight in multiracial communities. Still, some Kobolds do choose to pursue adventurous lives and end up in the cities of the big folks.
