The Elarahn are most common in the plains and highlands of Keln, but may thrive in any wild environment and occasionally be found in multiracial communities. These small humanoids are similar to hares in the conformation of their snouts, their large ears, and their digitigrade feet. Unlike hares, though, they possess long tails that appear to help them in their jumps. They are entirely covered in fur: it is short on their chest and arms, and much longer on their back and legs, especially on their thighs. A fuzzy ruff of fur surround their neck, and a great mane of long hair descends from their head and all over their back; longer hair covers the back of their tail as well, ending in a great tuft at its tip.
Elarahn are prideful and wary; used to life in the wilderness, they are always on the lookout for their many predators and natural enemies. They generally live in colonies and build burrows, dens or sometimes hut for shelter; most forage for food, but it is not uncommon for larger or more civilized colonies to grow orchards or even farm. They generally don't eat meat, aside from bugs, but are fond of eggs – and milk and dairy products, when they can get a hold of them.
Elarahn are a very pragmatic people, used to evaluate dangers in every situation, and generally pretty accustomed to the thought of their own mortality as well as that of the people around them. Elarahn have a proud fighting spirit; still, they see no shame in fleeing from danger when it appears a better option than fighting it. Most Elarahn display their true courage when their kin or friends are threatened.
