Aztec weapons were basically wood clubs (kinda shaped a bit like a cricket bat) with embedded shards of obsidian, which was the sharpest thing they could put together. And indeed, obsidian can break into ridiculously sharp edges, but they do tend to chip and dull rather readily, so the weapons didn't remain all that sharp for too long...
