History: Arthur Williams always pushed his kids to be their best and critiquing them harshly for any failings. He wanted them to strive for perfection. He made it clear to them from a young age that he expected them to do something to revolutionize the world, to impact society, and to advance science. When Valerie Williams began to demonstrate erratic behaviors, he had her committed to an asylum to be cured of her “mental defect”. When typical treatments did not work, he went to study the new procedure of lobotomy under Dr. Freeman before applying it to his own wife. Seeing a dramatic change, he declared it a huge success and went to work using it on others. When lobotomies fell out of style, he noticed that his reputation amongst his peers in the medical field was tarnished for his ready embrace of the practice. A fact which bittered him and drove him to pressure his children to ever greater heights.
Daniel was shocked by how drastically his mother’s behavior changed and found it concerning, driving him to study psychology to gain a better understanding of behavior. Seeing psychology as a soft science based on just the hypothetical effect of talk, Arthur pressured his son to go into a more medical direction and develop research that had measurable and impactful effects. Succumbing to the pressure, Daniel began also studying neuroscience so as to discover how altering the functioning of the brain can correlate to alterations in the functioning of behavior.

Yea, things did not turn out the way he hoped. He did his best to remedy the harm caused to the dog soldiers, but found it near impossible to restore even a few of the lost memories. The only one to make a full mental recovery was Garmr and that had little to do with Dr. Williams.
In the end, he destroyed his research to prevent others from duplicating the process. But he never forgave himself for all the hurt he was responsible for.
