And you use a butt-ton of layers.

I hate using a butt-ton of layers, though! This only happens when I start with a traditional base, or try to keep things professional or clean.

Otherwise I rarely ever break three layers. Too many make me feel like a weenie. :(

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. I always try and merge things together to try and keep the whole thing cohesive. I have not imported traditional work in forever, so I don't get your process there </3

Three to four seems to be a good rule of thumb. I've seen tutorials/videos where many more are used, but the pros don't seem to breach that barrier very often, unless they're experimenting with elements or whatever.
