Hmmm...let me explain the idea behind the commission:

Aella's condition is a methaphor for arthritis.

And Tai Chi helps with that, as well as the blacksmith job for the heat and movement and a good dose of learning to accept one's pains and build on them via both a really painful job... and the kintsugi stuff which she does on the massage bed ... because she also heals other living statues with that (but that's shown at the end of the comic).

Sure, i could have gone less "full on weaboo" with the metaphors... but i also did not want a "stereotypically greek gorgon".
