Chapter 2:
Darkness Rising, Part 2
The Decepticon warship descended from the heavens to a crack in the Earth, and once close enough the ship outstretched an elevator of sorts down into it. “Of the energon deposited we have located while you were away, Lord Megatron. This one is by far the most significant. The drones have been mining without pause in your absence, and have amassed quit a stock pile.” Starscream informed his boss as they went into the mine below the ship. “You there, fetch me a sample.” He ordered one of the nameless soldiers.
“Starscream. Now that I have returned I will issue the commands.” The leader informed him as he put emphasis in ‘I’ to help prove his point.
“I…understand, Lord Megatron.” The second best said as he stepped aside for his ruler to stand over the cliff that over looked the entire operation. “Then as your humble servant shall I ready the space bridge to bring forth the Decepticon Army that you have surely gathered in your three years in space.” The skinny man commented still knowing very little to what his boss’ real plan was.
“My army will come, but my time away has yielded a more…intriguing means of materializing them. A solidified form of the ancient texts refer to as the blood of Unicron.” The leader of the conquerors said as he stared at the purple stone in his right hand.
“Unicron the destroyer? But it is said that it is his blood that is the anti-spark.” Starscream said back to prove to his master that he did know what his leader was talking about.
“Plucked from cosmic shores. Gaze upon - Dark Energon.” Megatron informed as he gave away the more modern name of the purple shard.
“Legend tells that it holds the power to…revive the dead.” Starscream said while keeping the last part above a whisper since he wondered if his boss was crazy enough to try that kind of taboo.
“It requires only a cadaver to be certain. Are you willing to make the ultimate sacrifice?” Megatron stated and then questioned while looking over to his second in command.
“That may not be necessary.” The warrior said as he recalled his earlier victory and decided to use it to his advantage. “If I may, Lord Megatron…” He said and paused as two drones came to them with a shackled Autobot body. “Consider it a welcome home present.” The victor of the slain offered to the bolder fighter.
“And since you now know of our existence I fear that as of last night the Decepticons know of yours.” Optimus said to the three tiny creatures before them.
“Got it. See any strange vehicles call 911, or…” Jack said back before summoning another build. “Pounderize them into scrap iron.” They all looked at the big three fingered hands that were now at the end of his arms.
“Sorry Jack, but not all of us can do…how ever it is you are doing that.” Raf commented since he was still curious of how this human was doing such an unusual trick. Jack realized that the boy did have a point since he knew that his dad purified the whole planet.
“If its all the same to you - can we go now.” Jack offered as he gestured to the door they came from.
“Are you insane? I am living a dream here in Bot-swana, and I will not allow you or anyone else to shatter it.” Miko commented since she was still geeking out over this whole thing. The human transformer was about to say something back, but Optimus spoke first.
“It is best that you three remain under our watch. At least until we can determine our enemy’s intentions.” The leader said back as he was as curious as young Rafael over how a human can transform into a machine - if only pieces of him.
“Optimus, with all due respect, the human children are in as much danger here as anywhere.” The mechanical medic commented as he gazed down at the three and saw that the ‘k’ word did not go over very well with them. “Jack has some defense, but overall they have no protective shell. If they get under foot they will go --- squish.” He tried to reason while gently tapping his foot on the ground to prove a point.
‘I wonder if he would like a drill punch to the face?’ Jack thought and the feeling really did feel promising.
“Then for the time being, Ratchet. We must watch where we step.” Optimus said back as if such a task would be easy with the titans that they are. At that moment the alarms went off causing all to be concerned.
“What’s going on?” ‘Darby’ questioned as he gazed around the room to make sure there was no internal threat. The Rookie of the Autobots decided to explain what the alarms were all about.
“Proximity sensor, something’s up top.” Raf translated for them which now, because of all the war, espionage, and superhero movies out they understood that much.
“It’s Agent Fowler.” The medic informed them and the three could hear an even more sour tone to this guy then he used on them.
“I though we were the only humans that knew about you guys.” The raven haired male questioned with his smackhands still out.
“Special Agent Fowler, is our designated lesson to the outside world. As he tends to visit only when there are…issues. It might be best that you do not meet him at this time.” The red and blue man informed them which caused the cyborg to pull back his weapons, and gesture for the two to follow him.
“7 wrecks. 34 fender benders. A 3 hour traffic jam, and a particular note numerous reports of a speeding motorcycle of unknown make, and a black and yellow custom muscle car.” An African American informed the machines while keeping a close eye on the speedsters of the team.
‘That’s Fowler? Hmm, I’ll have to ask if White Knight knows of him.’ Jack thought to himself as he glanced past their hiding spot to see what this human looked like.
“So, anything you want to get off your tin chest, Prime?” The older human questioned to the man that was walking up to him.
“We have the situation under control, Agent Fowler.” Optimus said back as his own cover story to this informant, but it did not work.
“They’re back, aren’t they?” The man questioned back since he knew of the second side of this race, and had a feeling that they were also to blame for some of that mess.
“If you are referring to the Decepticons I have doubts that they ever left. Your planet is much to valuable.” Optimus informed the human before him.
“Then, it’s time to wake-up the Pentagon.” Fowler stated back since he knew that this required military might.
“Hear me, Agent Fowler, we are your best: possibly your only defense against the Decepticon threat.” Prime reasoned with him, and even though the leader had a point the human still wanted to test the issue.
“Says you.” The mortal responded as they went with a stare down - which was halted by the green one.
“Hey, fleshie, did anyone get splattered on that Freeway? Team Prime knows when to use force, and how much to use.” The brawler stated dramatically while grabbing a piece of equipment, and then squeezed it in his hand until it broke.
“Bulkhead, I needed that!” The medic shouted to his teammate out of anger.
“Enough.” The leader warned them before turning his sights back to the human by the elevator. “Military involvement will only result in catastrophe. Perhaps you can condone wide spread human casualties, Agent Fowler. I, however, cannot.” The leader said and prayed that he would heed his advice.
“Then do us both a favor, and handle this, Prime. Under the radar.” He informed while heading for the elevator. “Or I will.” He threatened before leaving through the elevator.
“Pretty big bearings…for a human.” Bulkhead pointed out after tossing aside the piece of destroyed tech.
“Agent Fowler is concerned for his planet, Bulkhead; as he should be.” Optimus explained back to his friend since he understood where the Special Agent was coming from. Back at the chasm the vile ones were still gazing over the fallen one’s shell.
“Let us see if power born in darkness can reignite the spark.” Megatron stated before jamming the shard into Cliffjumper’s spark chamber. The energy coursed into the fallen one, but the results were not what the dictator wanted to see as he watched the revived soldier tear two drones apart.
“That’s your plan?! Bring Autobots back from the dead to attack us!” Starscream shouted to his leader out of alarm since he feared that he would be next.
“That - is no longer an Autobot. Just a mindless beast that’s only instinct is to destroy anything in it’s path.” Megatron explained before seeing the creature charge at him, and without a moment’s hesitation sliced him in two with his sword. “There, Starscream. Rise the indestructible seed of my army. The ultimate weapon.” He said before taking time to kick the half with a head off the cliff, and to a lower platform. “Once I learn to control it.” He added with his second in command finally getting that part. With the fallen one reawakened so too did his signal at the hero’s base.
“Blasted Earth tech. Cliffjumper’s signal just popped back on-line.” Ratchet informed the others in the room even though he highly doubted it.
“Who’s Cliffjumper?” Miko asked since the picture on the computer wasn’t anyone in the room.
“How is that possible.” The leader asked since he knew that when a signal faded completely it stayed gone.
“It isn’t.” The doctor of the team said back before adding, “Another bug. The systems choc full of them.” He had a gut feeling that for some they needed to see it with their own eyes to be certain.
“If there’s any chance Cliff’s alive…” Arcee said while looking up at her boss, and prayed that he knew what she was about to say.
“Ratchet, prepare sick-bay. We may need it.” Optimus said before closing his face plat, and headed for the big tunnel, but was stopped.
“Hey! What can we do?” The girl of the three said as she stood on a higher platform all too eager to remain near them.
“Remain with Ratchet.” The leader said back in a calm tone, and kept his eyes trained on Jack in particular. ‘Darby’ saw the gaze and nodded to it to confirm that he would not leave. After hearing that the bot in question and the shot down girl groaned in disapproval.
“What just happened?” Jack shouted in alarm after seeing the four transform to vehicle, and then disappear in a tunnel of light.
“I transported them to the designated coordinates via the Groundbridge.” The tech savvy one explained to them as if they should already know that.
“What’s a Groundbridge?” The youngest of the three questioned since it did sound like an intriguing invention.
“A scaled down version of Spacebridge technology. Since we do not currently possess the means or the energon required for intergalactic travel.” The red/white one explained to them, but the mechanical boy got the gist of it.
“You’re stuck here - on Earth.” Jack said back as he walked closer to Ratchet to see if he was right.
“With the likes of you - yes. But I constructed the Groundbridge to enable travel from here to anywhere on your planet.” The medic explained back to them.
“Whoa. Does it work for humans?” The glasses wearing one questioned since having a teleported like that will certainly help them out.
“Naturally.” He responded since he was feeling confident that it should not have any negative effects on any creature that uses it.
“You mean I could just shoot on over, and visit by parents in Tokyo?” The girl questioned with a hint of disbelief since she did miss them.
“Within moments. In fact allow me to send you there immediately - all three of you.” He said back as he bent down to get a closer look at Miko - for intimidation purposes.
“Watch it, Ratchet.” She said back proving that his comment did not work. On the other end of the tunnel the group arrived at the location, and saw their fuel source all around them.
“Energon mine.” Bulkhead said to the others after transforming to robot mode with cannon ready, but holstered his blaster for the moment.
“Judging by it’s scale the Decepticons have been tunneling here for quite some time.” Optimus said as he looked around before the sound of cutting caught his attention. The four got closer, hid behind rocks, and saw the drones hard at work. “Let’s find Cliffjumper.” He said to them before walking off toward some drones.
‘How’d they get here?’ One drone thought as he spotted the enemy before him. Without even thinking it he and several others started to open fire upon them, and one even used a drill machine.
‘Seriously?’ Bulkhead thought as he mace clubbed the drill machine away as his friends kept firing on the others. Arcee grabbed one’s head and spun it off his body while Bumblebee stuck to blasting away. Optimus lifted another drill off the ground and shot at it. As they continued the one sided fight the humans were growing board back at the base.
“What is this anyway?” Miko questioned as she went back down to ground floor, and spotted a console that only a human could use.
“Broken. Don’t touch.” Ratchet responded as he walked over to the main computer. “Don’t touch that either.” He added since he had a feeling that the girl was a little hard of hearing.
“Is there anything in here we can touch?” Jack questioned even though some of their equipment would require the smackhands to operate.
“How come you guys are using human computers?” Raf questioned as he saw an error message appear on the screen.
“It certainly isn’t by choice. It was handed down by the previous tenants when we inherited the former missile silo. I make modifications as I see fit.” The bot at base informed before multiple error signs appeared on the screen.
‘Now’s my chance to prove that I can be of use.’ The young one thought before seeing a whip wrap itself around the railing.
“No worries Ratchet. I’m pretty good with machines.” Jack informed as he pulled himself up with the help of the blast caster, and landed near the Autobot. He remained skeptical as he watched the young human recall the whip back into his body.
‘How can he do that?’ Ratchet thought as he watched the human walk close to the machine, and press his hands on it.
“I can talk to machines. This is how I was able to bypass all of those child blokes mom put on the TV when I was 10.” He explained to the three that were watching him, and after a few moments the monitors before the medic all read good messages.
‘Way to steal my shot of pleasing this Autobot.’ Raf thought with a hint of jealousy since he was still wondering how a ‘normal’ teenager could do what he is doing. Back in the chasm they were done with the first wave, but the second one was already in front of them.
“Maximum overdrive.” Optimus ordered causing all of them to return to vehicle mode, and then play a little demolition derby with the drones. Once they were past that the four hid behind some crates to see the farmed up energon ready for transport.
“Quit an operation.” The strength of the team commented before a laser blast nearly got him. This caused the team to return fire, and while that was going on news of their assault reached the ears of the leading two soldiers.
“Blood of Unicron. How might I fathom the depths of your mystery. Becoming worthy of wielding your astonishing power.” Megatron said as he gazed at a bigger chunk of dark energon.
“Lord Megatron, intruders have been detected in the mines.” Starscream informed his leader through a video com link in the crystal chamber.
“Optimus?” The leader whispered, and wondered if it was him, his soldiers, or both down below.
“Indeed.” The second stringer stated after hearing the name his leader spoke of.
“I need more time to prepare a more appropriate reception for my old friend. Ready the ship for departure.” The leader of the villains stated, and then ordered, but that last part worried the other jet.
“But the energon I’ve mined - the Autobots will seize it.” Starscream stated back causing Megatron to wonder if his second in command was still fit for duty with that kind of back talk.
“Then blow the mines.” He explained back at him as if it should be basic stuff: an enemy wants your base then blow the base before they have a chance to claim it. Back with the heroes were still blasting away at the drones until one of them spotted something.
“It’s Cliff. I have a visual.” Arcee informed to the others as she spotted a familiar red chasse on a higher platform.
“We’ll cover you. Go.” The semi ordered to her which caused her to race a bit on foot before going to cycle form. She then went up a ramp, kicked a couple of drones in the face, performed some acrobatics, and landed next to her partner.
“Cliff!” The female fighter shouted and watched as some of the laser fire caused the section Cliffjumper was on to slide down, but she was able to catch him. Optimus was able to shoot down the drones right above his fellow fighter for peace. “Let’s get you home partner.” She said to her second charge with a smile on her face.
‘Ar…cee.’ Cliff, what little remained of his old self thought, but decided to give her a message since he was no longer the warrior she knew. The red armored bot zombie roared at her, forced her to let him go, and then fell down into some raw energon.
‘Arcee.’ Optimus thought as he saw the remaining half of Cliff before him, and then looked up at the one who had now lost another partner. Their time for mourning was cut short due to a familiar cackle.
“Prime.” Starscream said to them causing the three others to race over and get a better angle on him. “I would like to stick around, but I’m squeamish.” He informed them before holding up a bomb, armed it, dropped it, and flew away through the elevator shaft.
“The joints gonna blow.” The green Autobot informed since he knew just what the blast radius was on that explosive.
“Autobots, roll out.” Prime issued to them causing the three to change to vehicle form, and he did only after seeing that the three did before him. The explosion was grand: could have been seen far above the chasm walls, and was even nipping at their rear bumper. “Ratchet, bridge us back. Use the arrival coordinates, now.” Optimus ordered and the medic did as he was told.
“Wow.” The humans said in complete awe at Optimus narrowly evading a blue flame bumper by going into robot mode, but thankfully Ratchet closed the portal once he saw that all four made it back.
“Cutting it a bit close. How about Cliffjumper?” The bot at base questioned and saw that their heads were hanging low which meant bad news.
“What was that explosion? Was there a fight? Can I come with next time?” Miko questioned to them with a beaming smile not noticing the gloom in the air around these out of towners.
“Look!” Arcee started to speak to the crazy girl, but was interrupted by the taller kid.
“Hey, hey, Miko, let’s go see what the bots hide in their sock drawers.” Jack said with his right hand on her right shoulder, and guided her away since he knew when a warrior was not in the mood to talk.
“Seriously?” She questioned back, and did not like being led away from the cool ones in the room. The Autobots were grateful that Jack did that since it allowed them some talk time with the female warrior.
“Arcee, what did you see?” Optimus questioned with his voice filled with concern since he wanted her to know that she did not have to deal with this burden alone.
“Not Cliff…at least not anymore. He was mutated, butchered, like…something from those Con experiments during the war.” Arcee explained to them before feeling faint, and used one of their crates for support as she took a knee. “I’m fine. Just dizzy.” She said after hearing the concerned whirring coming from her brother.
“Robots who get dizzy?” Miko questioned why a killing machine would be that weak.
“Robots with emotions.” Raf clarified for her since they all were displaying the lighter emotions that humans use daily.
“Robots, who can die.” Jack said as he now knew that these warriors weren’t invincible, They can be slain in battle just like any other human. As the humans made those comments Ratchet was scanning her with a medical tool that was a part of his right arm.
“What is this?” The medic questioned at the unknown substance on her left hand.
“Don’t know. Cliff was covered in it. Leaking it.” She responded while sitting on the crate after feeling a little bit better.
“Go take a decontamination bath. Now.” Ratchet said to her after taking a scalpel sample of the strange substance. Bumblebee decided to escort her over to the healing chamber since she may still be a bit weak to get there.
“Uh, Optimus, I hate to bug, but no bars.” The tallest of the three informed while showing that his flip phone wasn’t receiving any signal where they were.
“A security precaution. The silo walls isolate all radio waves.” Optimus explained to them, but was curious as to why he needed to call anyone.
“Well, if I don’t call my mom, like, now I’m pretty sure the cops will be out looking for me.” The most responsible one informed back since he knew that was a strong possibility.
“Have you broken a law?” The leading bot questioned after getting closer to the boy. The Autobot leader knew that cops were on this planet to enforce the law, but he did not know which one these three were breaking by remaining here.
“Curfew. It’s after 10 PM.” He explained to the tourist before him.
“I better get home too, or I’ll be grounded for a year.” The smallest of the three pointed out to the giant as well.
“Earth customs. I hadn’t considered.” Optimus said to them since he understood what they were talking about, but they still needed protection. “But the issue of your safety remains.” He added after standing up. “Bulkhead, accompany Miko home.” He issued to the bruiser that was walking over to them.
“Awesome! My host parents will freak!” The girl shouted with pure joy as she started to imagine what their reactions will be when meeting this metal titan.
“And maintain covert surveillance in vehicle form.” The leader ordered even though it didn’t really needed to be discussed.
“Curb side duty. Got it.” Bulkhead simplified the order before looking at Miko with a stern look in his eye which showed the girl that he was going to follow that order, and she did not like that.
“Bumblebee. You’ll watch over Raf.” Prime issued the second guardian, and he could tell that both of them liked the idea a lot. “Ratchet?” He questioned to his oldest friend for a guardian for Jack.
“Busy.” He answered back since he still did not wish to be around the humans at all.
“Arcee, you will accompany Jack.” Prime issued which the human transformer wasn’t sure if that was a good idea or a bad idea.
“Oh, still dizzy.” She responded since she did not wish to be bothered by the founder of the three.
“You’re fine says your physician.” The medic responded as he still pawned Jack onto her while trying to figure out what that substance was. The group went to their individual homes, and the cyborg had to get something off of his chest.
“Arcee, I just want to say…I’m really sorry about your loss.” Jack managed to mutter after the two of them entered the garage.
“What could YOU possibly know about loss?” The mechanical woman scoffed, the pain of her partner’s death jading her to the boy’s comfort.
“What?!” Jack cried out, incredulous of her reaction while adding, “You think you’re the only one with problems?” Arcee transformed to her robot mode: crouching to prevent crashing her head through the ceiling of the garage. As she leered at Jack in disbelief for his comment.
“I don’t think girl trouble counts!” The mechanical marvel snapped back at the human. Jack frowned at her, his hands clenched in anger, she’s been nothing but condescending to him during the whole event. Acting like he was nothing, and knew nothing. That was going to stop NOW.
“Look. Act all angst, mope around, and feel sorry for yourself.” Jack yelled while pointing a finger at Arcee in anger. “But don’t you DARE say I don’t know about loss or problems. My dad is a hero! Not just any hero, but the hero of the ‘saves the entire planet’ kind, and he taught me not to take crap from anyone who believes that they know better than you.” He said to her while trying to keep robot mode 1.0 at bay.
“And just who might your father be, hmm?” The robot woman questioned with a sneer in her tone.
“He happens to be Alexander ‘Rex’ Salazar. The secret weapon of Providence, best bro to Captain Noah Nixon, generator of awesome machines, and my dad.” Jack said as he waved his hand at her turning his back on the mecha. “He’s saved so may people’s lives, fixed so many problems, saved the Earth SO MANY TIMES ITS NOT FUNNY!!” He informed as he starts to pace angrily: venting at Arcee, who sits crouched in disbelief at this kid.
‘What he is saying must be some sort of gag.’ The warrior from another world thought as she listened to his story, but for some reason had a feeling that it was all true.
“I mean, I’ve got a godfather from another dimension who can turn into ten million different aliens. Probably a transformer for all I know! My godmother is a Dhampir: Daughter of Count Dracula, her friends are all daughters of other famous monsters; their boyfriends are all heroes in their own right and have saved the saved the same Earth in their own way. Even with all that might even they have suffered a loss or two.“ Jack informed before he stopped pacing to look down at the floor sadly. “My Uncle Pierce and Aunt Mezu…who I never got to meet, but who’s death still affected my family. My grandparents, who my dad lost at the age of 10, and couldn’t remember them or anyone else for the next six years, and so on and so forth, but I remember every single one of those people; everyone of them who influenced my father and mother in some way. BECAUSE IT’S IN MY BLOOD!!!” He stated before loosing it so bad that he formed a BFS and chopped the work bench in half while breathing heavy after that slash attack.
‘Another build?’ she thought as she stared at the sword attachment.
“Add to that, my dad STILL is a hero and has to go all over the world to prevent disasters, so I hardly see him except for weekends or holidays…and even then it’s a gamble weather my mom and me will see him or not, so yeah I got troubles and they seem to have added up since I met you.“ Jack said while pointing at the female with his human hand before giving his head a shake.
“What…what are you?” Arcee stuttered out with her eyes still wide with disbelief.
“Me?” The raven haired boy questioned with a humorless laugh in his throat. “I’m just your average teenager who just so happens to have the only remaining active nanites in the world besides my dad…and maybe Bobo too.” He informed her while still feeling a little special that he was the only one, but he hoped that the distant family members don’t come back; or at least not as villains.
“Scrap…” Arcee groaned, rubbing her face as her processor tried to comprehend this new info. “I’m going to have to ask Agent Fowler to explain this, huh?” She questioned to the human before her.
“I guess…” Jack said back to her with a sheepish shrug. “It’s no longer a government secret, but no ones cares to relive that piece of history.” The human responded to her since there was a lot of people that didn’t like nanites.
“Great, so now I have to pull all nighters to her answers.” Arcee stated before seeing the far wall light up which got her warrior side pumping. “Cons!” She shouted while pulling out her blasters - ready to destroy her prey.
“No!” Jack shouted in alarm before switching from BFS to smack hands, and held her blasters down. “It’s my mom.” He added before powering down his fists and jogged out to the driveway to meet her.
‘Work was a hassle.‘ The mother thought as she neared her home. The mother otherwise known as Circe Salazar was thin for a teenager, but thanks to the full course meals at Providence along with having a son helped her figure greatly. She saw that her hair was still red at the tip, but that was due to the nanites which she really didn’t care since the red tip really looked good on her. She recalled a familiar idea her lover had a few years ago.
“I’m telling you, Circe, you are so going to love this idea.“ The younger Rex said to her before introducing her to Ben, Jake, Danny, and their lovers. It was a group decision of both White Knight and Max Tennyson to work together to deal with any threat. In later years the former screecher realized that Ben, and his lover Sibella came here just to hang out with their godchild - Jack which Circe didn’t mind since a godfather was better than no father. For protection Rex thought of giving them an alternate last name so their son didn’t have to be a fighter, so they chose ‘Darby’ even though Circe could have sworn he got that idea from a pony name.
“Sorry, Circe, but we finally have found a good high school for a baby girl to apply to, so we won‘t be able to watch Jack tonight.” Sibella, Daughter of Dracula, informed the human medic with an one-dimensional cell phone which Circe understood since education always came first in life, and she did trust her boy to be home alone.
‘He is a good boy. Why, I’m sure he has done his homework, and is in bed sleeping soundly.’ Circe thought with a smile as she was pulling into the driveway, and that was when her attitude turned sour due to the sight of her son, and a brand new motorcycle right beside him.
"Mom!" Jack ran up to Circe, a nervous smile on his face as he frantically tried to think of a explanation, not hearing the shifting metal sound over his frantic heart beating in his ear. "D-d-don't freak!! I can explain!" He said out of fear. Circe gave a brief glance over his shoulder, frowning in displeasure at what she saw.
“Can you?” She questioned the teen. She brushed past him and to Jack's immense relief, stood next to a Vehicle mode Arcee. "Jackson Salazar, we talked about this!" She said angrily. Jerking her head in the direction of silent motorcycle.
"I know and..." Jack started, looking upward in silent thanks for Arcee's quick thinking. But was cut off my his mom's angry tirade.
"You don't know!" Circe said, stomping toward her son. "I worry enough about you when your not home, especially when your Godfather and Godmother have to pull out at the last second, just when I start my night shift at the Hospital!" She added while not mentioning the why.
"Uncle Ben, Aunt Sibella, and cousin Draculara aren't coming for the week?" This was news to Jack. "Bummer..." He really hoped his Uncle would be here to ease the idea of a Giant Robot to his mother. He had more experience and has a way of convincing folks.
"Don't try to change the subject." Circe snapped, waving her finger scolding at him. "Their not coming to stay is bad enough, because I'll always be afraid that maybe some old enemies of your father will show up for payback and my Poor Son will be a BIG RED RIDING ON HIS MOTORCYCLE TARGET!!" She exclaimed even though her boy hasn’t embraced the jacket option as his father and the Omnitrix bearer has.
‘Good thing she was among the cured ones.’ Jack thought after remembering dad’s tales of mom using her howling for any type of condition even combat. He backed away from her in case dad reactivated them without either of their knowledge.
"Your not ready for any Big Trouble that might come your way, and DEFINITELY not ready for a motorcycle!" She shouted to her boy since she still wished to protect his as best as she could which caused Jack to sigh in aggravation.
"I'm sixteen, Mom, I've gotten training from Uncle Six, Uncle Noah, Uncle Danny, Aunt Morgan, Aunt Gwen, Aunt Holiday, Aunt Sibella, Uncle Ben...How many more references do I have to list for you to understand I'm ready!?" Jack emphasized. Walking over to Arcee and placing his hand on her handlebars. "I've come to understand that I shouldn’t look for trouble and I won't. But if trouble comes looking for me, I'd like to have some experience driving something OTHER then a Ten-Speed." He added and then he gives her a look, when she opens her mouth to speak, cutting her off as he states another fact. "Plus, while I Can form my own "Jack-Ride" it'd look a little out of place for me to form a hover car from my legs and arms, Mom.” He reasoned with her, and Circe sighed, he had her there, rubbing her eyes in stress before dropping her hand to stare at the bike.
"How did you afford this?" Holds up hand to stop Jack. "WAIT!!" Points finger at jack narrowing her eyes. "Did your Father give you the money for this because he thought you needed, and I quote, "A Super Sweet Ride for a Cool Dude your age?" Jack liked the idea since it sounded like Doyle from The Secret Saturdays offering his nephew his very own jetpack against his sister’s wishes.
"No!" Jack blushes, rubbing the back of his head. Hoping Arcee doesn't remember any of this tomorrow. "I...saved up my own allowance and...she came used...abused really. Needs a TON of repair." He suddenly wished he didn’t say that since he often dabbled in viewing giantess pictures and some of them meant that anything smaller than them got squashed.
'I'll remember you said that." Arcee thought miffed, and decided to listen to more of the conversation.
"The point is....I may have been a kid when I bought this.." Walks over to wrecked bench and picks up helmet. "But I'm not anymore, you always tell me to make responsible choices..." Jack gestures at Arcee. "Well, I chose her!" He added to his first comment. Jack walks up to Arcee, his mother standing to the other side of her, as he sets his helmet down and pats the helmet softly. "And I'll be responsible I promise.." Jack stated as he stopped patting his helmet. Hoping the words of responsibility would reach his mother. Who crossed her arms, giving him a wry smile and a raised eyebrow.
"Her?" She shakes her head, chuckling. "I didn't think you'd be bringing girls home just yet....then again you are your father's son." She murmured half to herself, gazing at Arcee thoughtfully while recalling some of the talks she and Breach had or the safety rules Holiday set for her and Rex when they were going out.
"I like to think she brought me." Jack muttered as he stroked the cycle’s seat. His mother snickered, before walking up to him purposefully.
"Well, I'm just glad you finally have a reason to wear your helmet." She informed him, and Jack turned to face her, getting a razor sharp pointer finger, aimed directly at his nose. "EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. YOU. RIDE!" Enunciating each word with a tone of seriousness. "Just because you heal like your father, doesn't mean your hard head will protect you." She then wraps an arm around him to lead him to the side door to the house. "Honestly, your Dad is gonna have a field day with this…you managed to beat him to getting a sweet new ride." Circe's tone tuning down to a playful jab at her hubby. "But then he can fly and drive anywhere without a car, so I don't see how he has room to complain." The former sound heroine thought of something, but was a little ashamed to ask of it.
"I'll give you a ride every now and then if you'd like." Jack offered, smiling up at his mother. Arcee's side mirrors slowly followed the two as they made for the door. That was what she wanted to ask, and it was right there for her to accept, but she had to decline.
"No Thanks." Circe chuckled. "besides, it's your Father who'll probably want you to give him a ride." She countered offered to him while praying that the offer will last should she decide to take him up on it.
"Yeeeeeaaaah." Drawled jack. ‘I think it'd be less embarrassing riding with my mom, then having my over-exuberant dad Hispanic word spewing dad with me.’ He thought before looking back and saying softly, “Besides, she’s kind of temperamental.” He closed the door while pressing the automatic garage door button to close.
‘He really isn’t half bad.’ She thought and as she entered repair mode the hidden hero decided to make him happy. Once the sun was shining through the windows in the garage, and decided to rev up her engines.
“Shh! Are you crazy? You’ll wake up my mom.” Jack whispered to his guardian leaned into the house door that led to the garage.
“Grab your helmet. It’s go time.” The heroine issued to him which caught the cyborg off guard.
“Oh, but it’s Saturday.” He argued with her almost in a complaining tone.
“You can watch cartoons back at the base with Bumblebee.” Arcee said back since she had a gut feeling that was why he didn’t want to leave home on a human leisurely day.
“Cartoons? I’m 16.” Jack muttered back with a scoff of dissatisfaction before going back to the kitchen to grab a quick bite.
“And leave a note for your mom - she worries.” The hidden one shouted out, but was not sure why she had said that. Back on the Decepticon warship the second in command was feeling pretty confident of what he had done.
“I do not think you needn’t worry about further Autobot interference, master. Not with Optimus gone.” Starscream informed which did not go over very well with his commanding officer.
“And what evidence do you possess of this fact?” The leader of the conquers said back as he gazed at the big rock in the room.
“I destroyed the mine. As you instructed.” Starscream said back, and wondered why he asked such a thing since he was the one who told him to do that.
“Optimus is not so easily destroyed. We have millennia worth of battle behind us to prove it.” Megatron informed back, and knew full well that his old friend would not fall in a fiery explosion.
“Perhaps you should take a break, my lord. I worry that too much contact with the dark energon might allow it’s properties to…adversely affect you.” The second in command stated, and meant every word since it was much too soon for him to be a bit screw loose.
“Or perhaps, Starscream. I have not permitted myself contact enough!” The leader shouted before ripping off another chunk and ignoring Scream’s pleas of warning Megatron slammed it into his spark chamber, and felt the power boost. As he was experiencing the power first hand another one was studying it from a distance.
“Big settlements of this goo are nothing I’ve ever encountered. Must be extremely concentrated to have affected Arcee so rapidly. Fortunately, complete results are slow coming without proper diagnostic tools thank you very much, Bulkhead.” Ratchet stated first with curiosity and lastly with anger as he moved a droplet of the goo from the slab to another part of the lab not knowing that a sample of it landed on the destroyed piece of tech which caused it to transform into a weapon - ready to kill anything.
