Last of the livestreamed lineart commissions I solicited during the weekend that was to have been Furnal Equinox before coronavirus yeeted it. This one features an OC of
fenris-douglas, "Zari". She's been hiking through the forest after a rainy day, happily stomping and jumping into puddles and mud holes, enjoying the protection afforded by her knee-high Hunter wellies. Until one innocent looking mudhole proved a match for her, concealing a thicket of tree roots, some rather large and close enough together to trap her booted foot. Unable to see exactly how she's stuck, Zari is getting increasingly nervous as she struggles to pull the deeply-rooted boot free. We all know what happens to your free foot when you pull up on the stuck one, don't we?
The subject matter was inspired by an earlier commission, "Thin Ice, Thick Muck" .
Technical:
About the only thing technical about this is the roundabout method of concealing various parts of the image that lay under other elements. For example, I fully drew out Zari's pose, boots and all before making a determination of how deep she was sunk. This was followed by placing various white-filled shapes on separate layers over the portions of the image that were to be hidden, then adding more layers for the mud effects surrounding her feet/legs. The inset actually uses a copy of Zari's hidden right boot, but the root passing over it was drawn on the same layer. A late change switched the snarl of fine roots wrapping around her foot to the background, so as to make room for the pair of stout ones sandwiching her ankle.
Digital drawing done in Krita 4.2.8. Fifteen layers (five hidden), 300MB in-app, 13MB .KRA file. Four hours seven minutes total editing time according to Krita's internal project timer. Project ID: 475
