I know who Apophis is in Egyptian mythology but my first interpretation of this was Jörmungandr having one heck of a heel turn and eating 99942 Apophis, the asteroid that was, back in the 00's, thought to be on a collision course with Earth. Oh, I really want Jörmungandr as a reluctant hero now!
