antherians has gone and posted their versions of the mascot, I'm going ahead and putting him up on my account!
Everyone, I'd like you all to meet Lionitus, Emperor of Anthropolis, and official chairman and mascot of Antheria 2010! He very much hopes to see you at his con this October (1st-3rd), and promises not to eat any of you… really.
THE BACKSTORY: Around Christmas last year I was contacted by 2 Gryphon and asked to do some art for a new convention he and his colleagues down in SoCal were planning. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity. I was asked to design them their mascot, with the theme being Ancient Rome. Basically, they wanted a lion in a toga and a laurel wreath, and left the rest up to me. I admit, I had a lot of fun playing around with this character. :3 And of course I was extremely flattered that they asked me to do this for them. Shown here are the eight finished pics of Emperor Lionitus I was asked to design for Antheria's website, which you can visit here:

Trivial notes: I was asked to draw a picture of Lionitus holding an unrolled scroll, on which the Rules of the con would be written. But I wasn't told what these rules were to be, so I borrowed some of Uncle Kage's advice, and combined that with some common sense of my own. The result is:
6 hours of sleep
2 square meals
1 hot shower
-PER DAY
No harassing the GOH
Give large tips
Don't talk to the Media
Don't pee in the bath
Be proud Furry
Give 2 Gryphon all your money
Also, speaking of Uncle Kage, can you spot his secret cameo? (Hint: remember, he likes white wine!)
These pieces were originally sketched on paper, then scanned, inked and colored in Photoshop. The original sketches will be donated to the con's Charity Auction, to benefit the Alex Foundation.

I just realised. And this is SO NOT COOL BY THE WAY:
I had plans to go to an AMAZING heavy metal concert on October 3. Geez Rondie, way to go - you had to make me decide between my unholy passion for rock and roll music and superawesomesauce furries. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THIS IS!?! T.-.T Don't worry, I will be making a decision on the matter. Either way, I'd still only be taking that Sunday off from work. But the fact that I actually MANAGED to have something ELSE planned THAT FUCKING FAR AHEAD is a truly ridiculous coincidence. So in the end its going to come down to deciding how much money it would cost to come see you then. :P
