if you have no idea what an alpoc is. It doesn't help much, but I haven't said much about them yet.
Anyway, here's some lore, because why not?
Alpoc are all nomadic herd-creatures, but not every Alpoc is created equal-- what, you thought their homeworld was all nothing but grassy fields? think again. Alpoc who live in the forests have mixed complexions of spots and blotches in addition to hair on their heads less like wool and more like a mane. Forest Alpoc have short necks, longer legs and ears. Their horns split in the middle into two points-- a trait almost exclusive to forest and mixed-race alpoc.
Because Alpoc tend not to mix herds, the structures of forest alpoc herds are very different from plains alpoc. Herds of forest alpoc consist of over a hundred individuals that split off regularly into groups of six to ten to separately forage for food and materials to benefit the primitive lifestyles of the species before returning; they only travel long distances when the herd has all members present or accounted for.
Forest Alpoc do not dress as fully as plains alpoc, opting to solely use a loincloth for covering and their own wool to keep warm-- forests allow for plenty of places to take shelter and the trees offer an effective windbreak; not to mention the planet's natural caverns are especially plentiful in the forests and bushlands.
