2nd shot of Zak on green. Perspective is horribly off, thanks to me not observing enough on the small comp downloaded.Should be shooting from a lower angle. Haiz. That said, it's not totally unreasonable since it is possible to get someone to stand at that angle... maybe with wires but it's not entirely implausible.
Lighting setup on the day was was a very diffuse exposure, and with a snooted light coming from behind Zak to simulate the bunch of lights from behind. In retrospect, I should have gone for a hi-con setup. Background was again gamma'd down, but this time not to match Zak but even more, so as not to draw attention to zakari himself (the area of the background in mid/highlights is pretty large), in terms of luminance.
To provide more "kiss" into the bg, mild light wrapping and a lens flare was used. Also, as this was a very close up shot, the sharpness of the background would be lesser, so lens blur was used on the background. It's hard to gauge how much to use, since IMO that depends on the final viewing size. A tone curve was then applied to give it the "film" look.
The white on the fur doesn't match the white of the text behind. Could be done, but if I matched the bg to zak, it loses the ambient colors. The other way round, zak would look too warm. I decided to just match contrast and ignore the colors, since in real life, we could have just shot this on site without any balancing gels and achieved a similar effect.
Looking good zak!
