Ok...so apparently when I start drinking, I play Bob Marley songs.
Definitely my favorite of Bob's many songs, and a song I'd been meaning to record for a long time.
Finally getting a handle on the new mic. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, but, as always, I'd never turn down good advice.
Hope you guys like it.

Now I flat out love you. :D You have a beautiful voice, slightly shaky at the end of some words, but smoother than mine and quiet defined. How long have you been playing and singing?
When I was living out in Tempe, Arizona, I played at this fancy Irish pub called The Rula Bula every Tuesday night and the host would always start out the open mic night by playing this song. That man was Walt Richardson. I made some thunder in there blaring my hand drum and of course, I was the only solo percussion act. :P Eventually he invited me to play with his band The Peaceful Warriors and I wound up jamming this song with him in front of hundreds of drunk college students! Dear god, this takes me back...

I've been playing for about three years, singing for two. Took a while to get the courage up ^^;;.
I'm glad you like it =D. Admittedly, I had been drinking for a bit before I recorded this. Not sure if it would be better or worse if I hadn't, but it's a factor xD.
I do still have some trouble at the chorus with the line "All I've ever had"...it's just difficult to approximate the right note sometimes D=.

Pretty rad, at first I thought, 'this isn't very reggae' but then I realized that it didn't have to be.
Your voice is pretty cool, all recorded in one take right? Not muti-tracked I hope.
I am a guitarist, but sadly more of a classical (modern classical, but I digress) one so I can't give much advice, but it sounded nice!
I played a piece that was dedicated to Bob Marley once, it was pretty fun! Tough to get the right tone with the guitar but I think I managed!
Really well made! Thanks for sharing.

Normally, I'd do one-takes, but with my new mic the vocals mix down with way too much low-end in a one-take recording D=...so this one was multi-tracked. However, if I screw up once, I re-record the whole thing rather than cut and re-do only certain parts.
I'm glad you like it =D.

Ok, I reread my explanation, and it didn't make much sense to me.
Basically, it's two one-take recordings. One for guitar, one for vocals, since I haven't gotten my mic all figured out yet, and recording both at the same time made the vocals sound muffled D=.
As far as the reggae bit goes, the original song is played almost exactly like this. Matter of fact, there's a video out there of Bob Marley doing it solo on an acoustic, and he plays the arpeggiated chords like I use in this version.

Makes more sense now!
I see, I guess if you don't have two microphones it is pretty difficult to get a decent sound (I only have one too, but I don't sing)
Well, I wasn't blaming you or anything (I'm not an expert on reggae or any modern genres), though I am a fan of Bob Marley, but I think I only have his 'band' songs in my head, and they're decisively more reggae in style. But your guitar playing is very clean, and nice to listen to! You must excuse me, but I'm really slow at listening to music and commenting (on music), I am going through your gallery now :3
The closest I can get to reggae music is this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3429399 and trust me it's only quoting reggae in a classical style more than actually being of the genre.

*chuckles* I didn't think you were blaming me, I just had never realized it myself that this is pretty much one of Bob Marley's only songs that he doesn't play in his usual reggae style xD.
Granted, there are versions out there where he does. The version I'm used to his right here
