Tiger Tshirt Illustration - WIP - part 1
I haven't had much time to upload any new art onto my site as often as I'd like, so I thought I'd show you the progress I'm making so far on a commission I have. This is a piece commissioned by my very good friends from Mystik Waboose for a Tshirt design based off of a series of books by Author John Ringo.
The small photo in the right bottom corner is the reference photo I was given (actual size!!! It was pulled off of a photo calendar). Because of copyright law, they obviously could not use the photo in the tshirt (plus such a tiny dpi wouldn't translate to print well). Thus why they requested me to do an illustration for them. I am deeply honored that they would trust my artistic hand at coming up with an illustration that will be printed and sold on a 400 t-shirt run, so naturally I'm spending most of my time on this project.
I'm doing it completely digitally on Photoshop, as it makes it easier to transfer the design to a t-shirt cleanly and professionally. So far most of what I've done is put down the basic color values and start a little on the hair detail on the left. I'll post updates as I go, mostly to give myself a visual journal of how I did it, so I can remember the process for future projects.
If I get enough interest, I may be selling prints of the final piece. Mystik Waboose has already asked that I make a limited edition print run of 25, but we might decided to make the number larger depending on initial demand.
