
I had mentioned this in the context of "strangest material I ever used for chainmail," and someone wanted to see it.
A few years ago, in a ceramics class I took, I made a patch of chainmail out of terra cotta. I rolled it into snakes then formed the rings, and linked them all together before firing it. Happily, it's flexible. I had been worried at the time that the rings would fuse together in the kiln.
I call it irony maille because it's fragile armor.
