A kind-of ref sheet for lack of a better way of describing it. Thought it might be interesting to have a pic of what the skeletal and musculature of one of my Vanguard aliens was like. Solid bones and a stiff, relatively inflexible but armoured spinal column used for support (nerves are not centralized like they are in many terrestrial animals). Not so much a rib-cage as a rib-box as well, solid slat-like bones which overlap to protect some of the more important organs.

Your alien species must have a very interesting skeleton. BTW, yesterday I was checking some 'camel skulls' on google. I can't believe this is a camel: http://www.dundee.ac.uk/museum/zool...../DUNUC1929.JPG
What can I say? I'm curious!

Heh, some Mass Effect2, some Dragon Age: Origins, as wel as various other first-person shooters and the like... but it has been taking away from my writing, I have to admit.
Pleased to hear that things have settled down a bit at home for you. You went through a bit of a rough patch there with the grandparents.

Excellent! I haven't played Dragon Age: Origins yet, but Mass Effect 2 is absolutely wonderful. :] Ah, it might be time for a little break, if you haven't been writing! O.O You -must- write! :D
Ah, yes, I did. I just have to be careful not to let myself stress out too much...
*hugs!*

I tried to come up with a basic that was fairly generic that still allowed any artist who used it to put their own take on the creatures, but in general I try to give artists a description only to work on so they have no preconceived notion
Now, just need some more practice with my tablet so I can come up with my own ref sheet

Slowly, I am ashamed to admit. I have even distracted myself with getting back into gaming and recreational reading a lot of late, which doesn't leave much time for art or writing.
However! That is on the change. With Summer on the way I fully intend on getting out with my sketch book and heading out to places where I wont be distracted and just sketch my little heart out.

Oh, balls, I thought I already commented on this!
Anyhow, it looks super-cool, with fine detailing on the muscles and exoskeleton on top of the regular skeleton. (I also half expected a stomach scan, revealing little bits of chewed up bone, gristle and puppies)
And right now, somewhere out there, I'm sure Ragni's saying something akin to: "You had to get an x-ray scan just to see them like that? Dude, all you have to do to let them give you a good idea of what their insides are like is to ask nicely."

Now what are you scheming up there?
They don't have ribs as such, just a series of over locking plates that also stretches down the back of the spine (not shown in this pic). Vanguard torsos and necks are very inflexible, hence having to swing their upper bodies around rather than just turn their heads.
Check this out, it goes very much into depth about their history, biology, culture, technology etc: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3620816/
