I think just the way they made it so invasive for 12 straight days while you need to do other tasks is frustrating. Especially the sky eggs and water eggs. The other ones I think have a good balance with being grown on fruitless trees or extra buried spots.
I think some mechanic to actually make hunting active when you want it would have been good. Like you have the Nook phone, maybe a Holiday App that you can hunt the eggs down so you find them when want them and can actually fish for fish when you need to haha.
