I am part of an Aboriginal Conservation group called "Turtle Island Conservation". Every year we have a variety of conservation events to help teach the local city dwellers about the local wildlife that is endangered because of our mass habitat destruction. The kicker is- we also are an aboriginal group that uses the traditional Oral traditions, knowledge, and in culture to show people about the animals, and teach them their names and life styles via the local Ojibway languages (Both local and Northern dialects), as well as the scientific facts that go along with them.
This was for one of our annual events- the Annual Bird Watching event that takes place on the national Bird Watching Day in Canada- located at the Toronto Zoo in the conservation building.
I came down with my short film in hand (hey, the two main characters are birds!), and a lot of artwork on local bird species I have observed in my garden, and the ravine by our house.
This is one of those images that is far more stunning IRL than on the computer screen. The essence of how the light bounces of the complimentary colors (specifically the blue hues and tints) is something that a flat computer scan cannot recreate.
Whoever want to buy the original off me will have themselves an awesome uncompilable example in compared to the prints. :)

We're in some weird jet stream weather pocket that makes it colder here than most of alaska.
And yush, I think like a quarter of the state is wildlife refuge/state park/state forest/national park/national forest land.
Like the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the North Shore, or the International Wolf Center. ^^

Lustrous colors! Was this done with pastels/chalk? The texture effect of the feathers and the background is very strong, and the light reflection image in the eye is terrific! Such silly birds. Our backyard male cardinal will sit and chirp for EVER before going over to the feeder. I know, SO visible. "it's ok.k, go, eat, nothing's going to hurt you.' can't get around basic instincts, i guess.
It's actually Pencil (Windsor Newton) on Canson paper.
Yah, we have an "Early Bird" ... at 3:30 am will sit outside our window and just chirp the SAME THREE NOTES over and over.. after about an hour, when he sees it's ineffective- he'll drop half a tone and chirp THAT for the next hour. It's like- persistence of stupidity? We'll never know. XD
