Thus, I won't bother you with details about his background story and leave it at the basics.
Young Yako, hailing from an indigenous tribe living in the southern rainforests and islands in southern Aventuria was captured by slave traders (yes, I know, not very original^^) as a child and sold on the market of one of the biggest cities of the continent, the grand yet corrupt metropolis of Al'Anfa. Unlike many, Yako, however, was lucky enough to be bought by a kind master, a former adventurer, pirate and swordsman, who took him more as a surrogate son then a servant and taught him in his own fighting style. Alas, after several years it was his maser himself whose fortune waned, and in the end, Yako found himself for sale again and this time, ultimately, as a gladiator in the arena. It was there where both his tendency to go berserk when critically wounded as well as his hatred for killing first surfaced (and luckily, contrary to popular believe, professional gladiators were usually too valuable to pit them against each other for fights to death all the time, that was the fate reserved to prisoners of war or criminals usually).
It was ultimately being reunited with his former master, which prevented him from breaking down. For a while, the two unlike fighters with the identical style even became a popular combination for teamed battles...
...until one day, it was decreed that a fight to death should be the final act of a grand gladiators' game. A spell to inflict blood-lust on his master was all that it took to ensure a fight which soon ended with Yako himself getting wounded enough to be driven into his own state of berserk - and when the boy came to his senses again, his master was lying bleeding and motionless in the sand. Filled with grief and rage, Yako attempted to use his magic to jump to the loge of honour belonging to the noble who had organized and ordered the set-up of the tournament, trying to strike him down with his sword. However, one of the other guests, a wizard, was quick enough to paralyse the boy with a spell and thus prevent him from doing anything more than fall down motionless inside of the box. It was said wizard, who claimed Yako as a price for his service to the noble.
The mage, a researcher into chimeras and magical transformation, was the one who bestowed the token features on the boy, the ears and tail of a Jaguar, when he awoke the blood of an arch-lycanthrope in the boy, the very same heritage responsible for the berserker state. In the end though, mainly thanks to a magic spell rendering him invisible, Yako succeeded in escaping from the wizard's custody and literally ran into the arms of his future travelling companions, a fugitive warlock, trying to prove his innocence by hunting down a circle of black Magi and a half elven master-thief searching for money and fortune - and a cure to his very own family curse.
Trying to keep his lycanthropy and berserker frenzy under control, Yako avoids spilling blood in combat, or even consuming it in any food item.
Contrary to his past experience, he remained an perhaps introverted, but gentle youth.
Age: 16 (at the start of his adventures)
Height: 170cm
Weight: 55 kg
(Differing from the picture, his hair is normally dark-brown with merely a golden lustre, but turns the depicted colour for a while after a change to his lycanthrope form, a Jaguar Hybrid. Similarly, his tail is usually shorter.
There is, alas not seen, a scar on his left cheek shaped like a jolted X.
His usual weapon of choice are two long swords, however, he changes to short-swords for fighting in caves or dense forests like the place shown here.^^)
The name Yako has the meaning of cat / big cat in the language of his people, Beta then, befittingly, choose the Kanji for blaze and tiger for the Japanese transcription of the name.^^

I feel somewhat a bit bad about people saying it is a good story when it is just the short version... ^^ ()
I myself was always very afraid it was, well, too generic... ^^ ()
I mean, I felt a bit embarrassed because some parts were rather cheesy in my opinion... ^^ ()
The system is very recommendable.^^
It's only flaw is that it yet needs one more thorough revision until any remaining loopholes and exploits in the character generating system and such are mended, in that aspect games like GUrRPS are indeed better.
It's good sides are the very strong integration of the rules and the setting, as well as the depth of background information.^^
It also has a pretty well done magic system, it has only a limited amount of available spells, but they allow for a very good customization since you can modify them and make them stronger the better you are at casting them.^^
There is also a more "colourful" westcontinent in the setting which is explicitly aimed to allow a lot of creativity and self created stuff, while the eastern continent the game was traditionally set on as default is already very thoroughly described and thus leaves a bit less room for self created races and similar unless you want to part with much of the background and metaplot.

well i don't think you should feel bad at all. ^^ as shot as the description might be; you gave a lot of detail, background, and specified things. ^^ what you have done y friend, is a very well crafted summery and that can be hard in it's self. ^^
the game system sounds like a blast and i wish i knew some around here that might be up for it. ^^; then again, i should not be looking for more distractions right now.

Funnily enough, Yako here is currently alternating between tag along GM PC (because it is usually a pain to send a character in and out for contrived reasons while the group is traveling the continent, even if it is a relatively small one) and player character when I for once get someone else to agree to be GM.^^
I had not gotten to play this system and game world for quite a while, but we ended up getting a group together again, so, he is back in action.
Otherwise, well, my characters tend to be dark skinned about half of the time, depending on the setting and whether it fits, since I rather like dark skinned guys.

The first one looks pretty nice, though, the second link seems broken, want to link me to your gallery perhaps?^^
Also, have you checked the page of the afrtist who drew this for me?
He does a lot of other muscular dark skinned characters.^^
He is also on Pixiv, he lost his FA password and has a bit of trouble setting up his account again, so all his newer work is on there:

Well, some of those characters are mine, Yako here, Amadi, Alven and Malus the catboy, though my friend drew them for me based on my description and some references I made in character creators in certain games.
I play Yako here and Amadi, the boy with the staff and the leopard, they are characters from pen and paper rpgs.
I have used various dark skinned guys in one of chat rpgs and the like as well.
Thanks definitely for the link, I shall look over those!^^
