My first attempt at making a large jointed plushie. I got some real super thick soft black fur and as soon as I saw and felt it I had to make anthro Morgan.

For those who are interested, here's lots of waffle about the making off, resources, links etc-
Well it was an interesting one to make. He's like a giant version on the hug me plushies XD He is 20 inches tall so room to add details like bipedal legs and plenty to hug! He's jointed at neck, shoulder and hips. As it turned out the first joints I got for it were too small so I had to replace the joints, I went from 26mmm to 51mm so they're much more stable. But doing up those nyloc bolts was a total nightmare! Thank goodness I have a vice and a good pair of pliers otherwise I would have never managed it. Even so, it took an hour and I got some nice hand blisters from it. It's made really awkward by the fact you're trying to do them up inside the plushie XD
I'm used to my flat being furry on a regular basis from making plushies and eat/tail sets though the shorter black fur turned out to really bad for putting cut hairs all over. It's a testament to how wonderfully dense the fur is as i'm skilled at cutting fur fabric without cutting the fibres so it's all off the cut edges. After a week of sweeping and vacuuming that there's still black fur in my food, shower, bed... *LOL*
He has ultra suede paw pads and (English made) glass eyes which I hand painted. It was different painting them than the plastic safety eyes and I messed up the first attempt. Fortunately the acrylic cleaned off with some nail varnish remover so I could re-do them :)
As he was going to be all black, the mouth detail was going to get lost, so he has a mouth with a little tongue. The first mouth I made was more detailed but it added too much bulk to the muzzle so I ended up taking it out and putting in something more smaller and simpler.
The removable armour was made based on this tutorial-
http://entropyhouse.com/penwiper/co.....helmsdeep.html
The straps were made from the same ultrasuade as the paw pads, dyed and the eylets and wire stay loop added. I was saved the bother of making the buckles as my local haberdashery shop had a box of mixed ones, I assume for dolls etc. which was handy.
The armour went from looking bad, to looking okay, too looking awful then I think in the end it turned out okay ^^
He was very expensive to make as it takes a half metre of high quality fur just for the base alone and glass eyes are pricey so would probably budget -£30+ for the material costs.
Also is a picture to give an idea of size, compared to a dvd and a hug me plush.
Now to make the next one to test out the adjusted pattern. It'll be Dragon next, making large realistic wings will be the challenge... If the adjustments seem good then I can put up an auction on furbid/buy :D I'll put up commissions for these via furbuy/bid auctions rather than taking them as general commissions for the time being.
Resources-
Long black fur, glass eyes, ultra suede, teddy bear joints, from here (superb seller, highly recommended)- http://www.mohairbearmakingsupplies.....aux%20fur.html
Fur dye, eyelids (imported) - http://www.bearycheap.com/ezimercha.....egory135_1.htm
Long white fur (for coloured bits of mane) electric hair clippers and markers were from ebay, don't remember the seller though as it was ages ago XD
Everything else came from my local haberdashery/ fabric/ craft/ hardware shops/ I already had. (short fur, craft foam, stuffing, triangle safety nose, acrylic paint, hot glue, felt, thread, wire)

Edit- I've replaced the joints, I went from 26mmm to 51mm so they're much more huge and stable. But doing up those nyloc bolts was a total nightmare! Thank goodness I have a vice and a good pair of pliers otherwise I would have never managed it. Even so, it took an hour and I got some nice hand blisters from it. Edit 2- Hooray! Finally got to make his tunic and belt. Again they're removable so I can play dress up ^^

I usually use 18mm German glass eyes on these 2' plsuhies. I used 20mm ones on Naynay's lemur character (need to upload the photos of it) to add more of the lemur big eyeness so that size also works well for character with big eyes. I think they don't want to be any smaller or larger.
The 12' hug-me plsuhies take 16mm plastic safety eyes, though 14mm would also look okay as the 16mm are slightly on the large size (my local shop just had the 16mm ones)
Hope that helps!

By the sounds of it, it would be a basic plushie :)
