The latest in my series of "Compositions of a Stupid Autistic Mind," which are either repetitive on purpose or are just stupid little melodies I improvise. Why? It represents the annoying things I used to do as a child, which proved to my parents I really am autistic. This whole series of compositions are based on dreams I have from time to time, which are flashbacks of my childhood. These repetitive melodies, therefore, are generally either things I improvised and they stuck with me, or were based on things I discovered I remembered wrong. Alternately, they're sometimes relevant to a current event in my life, or just represent what mood I am in right now. This series also is a challenge for me to use specific MuseScore templates at least once (although I also modify settings on the templates to make it easier on myself). That challenge is completed, though, so I'm now going back to templates I am used to, namely when there's lots of percussion.
"Percussion Overload" represents a time from my early childhood where I was really irritating people with the noises I would make, and I would just go on and on, forever and ever. Thus, this very long piece is intended to be as irritating as possible, and has a larger-then-normal amount of percussion instruments used. Ironically, doing the bad habits of making noises led me to be a percussionist. Go figure.
The piece is for:
Glockenspiel
Crotales
Xylophone
Tubular bells
4 vibraphones
6 marimbas (2 grand staff, 2 treble clef, 2 bass clef)
Timpani
Drum set
Battery percussion (snare drums, tenor drums, bass drums, cymbals)
Concert percussion (snare drum, bass drum, cymbals)
Bongos
Congas
Timbales
Tam-tam (a type of gong)
Wood blocks
Triangle
Vibra slap
Tambourine
Music (C) me and me alone
