Hey guys, hope you are all feeling well from all this bullshit coronavirus pandemic. As I stated in my last review, this will be the last review month before things go back to normal. So let's make this review month a good one, shall we?
Lunatic Habano Short Robusto:
Wrapper: Ecuador Habano
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction: It was a few weeks back when I was doing some stock up from the club, when Ben recommended the Lunatic Series for the next review since I was a bit stumped for the next one around. It was perfect for the timing of everything. With a usual artistic crest saying LUNATIC with JFR above. Unwrapping the gold bottom half of paper there was a flourished smell of warm cedar and a small amount of pepper. The construction was nice a neat. A nice amount of oil to shine the milk chocolate color. The veins and seems were patterned like a piece of art. The pre-slice was a bit loose, but it meant alot of notes to come my way. Let's light it up.
The Burn Part 1:
I lit it up in the garage on my way to my car. There of course was a massive amount of bread notes. Like a freshly baked roll popping straight out of the oven. Sort of a sweeter version than your usual morning bread. A bit of cedar notes soon came to be. I got in my car and started it up with some TOOL on to set the mood. Since the pandemic and not really going anywhere, I once a week get out of the house for a routine drive just to see the world outside of my neighborhood. It was a sunny day like any other and it was the right time to smoke one of these on the go. As the stick continued down, the bread and cedar notes well hand and hand together. Soon before the stick ended the 1st third, there were some pepper notes that came into play. Light black pepper. Like a little nip here and there of kick. Something that I enjoyed especially on the drive.
The Burn Part 2:
As the drive went on, the stick did as well. The bread and cedar notes were still joining in combination. The pepper got a little more stronger, but to the point of making it's point of being relevant to the rest of the notes. Was still driving around town looking at some shops that closed and or still open. Mainly alot of body shops still working. As I neared the end of the 2nd third, I eventually stopped at the cigar club for a little fresh reload on stocks. I soon waited in line as I gave them my list. The stick at this point was mainly medium to full body. Still easy going for a Habano.
The Burn Final:
As I ended up with my new stock of cigars I drove down the old city district to see what the area was like during the pandemic. The notes were dwindling back a bit so I purged it to bring some fresher notes to life. Once I did, the roasty notes started to blend in with bread notes more than the cedar. It was like a combo of either bran muffins or banana nut muffins. It was very pleasing to the palette. I was driving down the lake area where the wealthy citizens of the city lived. Some were on walks, some were on their balconies, others were tending to yard work. As I exited there, the last note to cross the finish line was the bread notes with the cedar in 2nd and the pepper of course in third. I put it out in my water bottle and drove back home for a bath.
Verdict:
For something like this either inside or outside, I would recommend this either way, but mainly I wish I had a cup of coffee with me for the drive. Mainly a good morning smoke. If you see these little guys, grab you a few for the mornings ahead.
