El siguiente en la serie de rivales, esta vez una rivalidad felina Ráfaga la chita y Maya la leona
Las chicas se conocieron en el ejército como parte de un grupo de fuerzas especiales, y las dos compitieron por llegar alto en la jerarquía militar, pero la carrera de Maya se vería truncada cuando se supo de la conexión de su familia con el grupo criminal conocido como “The Pride”. A pesar de que la leona trato de defenderse fue dada de baja. Maya siempre sospecho (equivocadamente) que Johana, la chica que posteriormente se convertiría en Ráfaga tuvo algo que ver, pero de lo único que en verdad se arrepiente la chita es el no haber alzado la voz para defender a su compañera.
Johana continua en la armada y posteriormente se unió al grupo especial conocido como la unidad Valquiria. Eventualmente haría su vida y tendría un hijo. Todo iría bien hasta que quedaría envuelta en un ataque del grupo terrorista Fnord, en el que su hijo moriría. A raíz de esto el gobierno le ofreció una oportunidad para unirse a un programa para crear súper soldados que buscaba crear un grupo de superhéroes bajo control gubernamental. Ahora como Ráfaga se convirtió en la líder del grupo “filo de plata” como protectora a nombre del gobierno de los habitantes del sector 16, el infame “triángulo del diablo”
Maya por otra parte, siendo una chica emprendedora decidió, junto con Cameron un compañero del ejército que renuncio en protesta por el trato que recibió Maya, fundar una agencia de mercenarios y caza recompensas, dando trabajo a héroes y vigilantes que están espesando su carrera o en el punto del retiro para poder tener unos ingresos extras. Su agencia Caza recompensas a la orden goza de mucha popularidad, pero es vito con recelo tanto por héroes registrados como gubernamentales.
Además de su entrenamiento militar ráfaga tiene el poder de la súper velocidad
Maya no tiene poderes más allá de su entrenamiento, pero cuenta con acceso a un amplio arsenal y guanteletes especiales que aumentan su fuerza y tiene diferentes armas y accesorios para usar en el campo de batalla
Eventualmente por sus líneas de trabajo saben que sus caminos están destinados a cruzarse, mientras se mueven en la delgada línea de la ley
Entre ambas chicas existen una serie de asperezas que saben que deben limar, asuntos del pasado que deben desenterrar y un presente que deben decidir si afrontar juntas o cada una por su cuenta
