Another commission, this time it's
misticfox 's curvy, spear wielding, alchemist, magic using, Ozzy-glasses wearing, character. Spring break is going fairly well, getting a lot done now that my house is no longer full of high-schoolers.

"If I was DMing it, Id say shes wearing too much. You gotta lose the bra or loincloth otherwise its 10% spell failure for you!"
As usual another great piece. With all the little details and doo-dads its easy to just stare at it for a while. I think you nailed the perfect mage expression of "Imma kick yo ass". And the blue lighting is really cool for seeing where you do lighting based off of sources, but it seems overdone, like your getting a lot of lighting from a not so bright light around her hand. I guess that's magic for ya though.
By far though, the best part of this is the anatomy. The digitgrate legs and the paws that precede them are worthy of being definition standard. And the way the ears work with the hair as opposed to against it is sweet. So if you thought Id say something constructive TOO BAD, just keep on keeping on here.
To this day I do not understand why your tails are so different from the rest of the scheme. I don't know what drives you to make them shaggier than the rest of the fur, or why you always make them seem like they were painted rather than drawn. But I think I'm starting to prefer it looking like that. Your unyielding stubbornness in personal style has finally corrupted me on this point, kudos to your will power.
On a side note, YOU CALL THAT A SPELLBOOK, more like a spell pamphlet! Back in my day we had spell books that had to be turned on their side just to fit into the inn's. Pfffft I bet you could hardly scribe your grocery list in there, much less a spell like Magic(arcane for all you non-tabletop gamers)missile.
(I assure you I had just as much fun writing all that as you did drawing it Bone.)

The "lotsa lighting" was actually at the behest of the commissioner, it's a magical character of sorts. Glad you noticed the leg structure too, went out of my way to look up how actual dog's legs are constructed and drew these from the skeleton up. As for my tails thing, I've noticed that I've found "long hair all over" type characters unattractive (and sometimes very creepy) so I just stick to shorter fur on the bodies. Though I may be doing some characters with more "fluff" in the future now that I'm pretty ok with this. I usually only make the tails super fluffy if they're really big.
Haha, spell-books are huge and unwieldy. I should have known.

A rather interesting back story for the fur. Now that I think about it too, it would be somewhat unsetteling to see your style of bushy hair all over the whole character. Have you done any where you do the fur stlye on the body like you do on the face? Like with little tufts at the edges and here and there, as opposed to hard outline?
Of course they are, if the spell book wasn't MASSIVE what excuse would a mage have for not getting some more combat oriented clothes (not the traditional robes fad, but something practical). And if that's the case, maybe they would learn to pick up a halberd like this beauty here and actually do more than 1d4+1 per missile.

I'm starting to add more fluff and stuff to appropriate areas in order to break up the hard outlines. Areas like shoulder, thighs, and lower arms seem to work well, along with just above under the clavicle (or in less science-y terms: above the cleavage).
Also: oh man DnD talk, reminds me of my DMing days.
