Card Fighters: The Card Kings Saga Chapter 1
The next saga begins. This takes place a few months after the end of the last saga. Here, the character based on
fellaniabloodclaw makes her debut. I sure hope the original likes my interpretation of her.
Clash 2-1: Meet Fellania
It was finally time. Summer had come to Southtown, which meant that the preliminaries for the King of Cards tournament. Calvin, Susie, Jazza, and Aurora had headed out of the school building, having just finished their final exams.
“As usual,” said Susie, “The three of us manage to pull of good scores, while Calvin barely passes.” Calvin sighed and said, “I’ve been too busy training for the KOC preliminaries. If I don’t get enough wins, then I won’t be able to compete in the tournament, and I won’t be able to keep my promise to Thomas.”
“You still need to learn how to balance training and studying,” said Jazza, “But never mind that. We have to prepare ourselves for anything at this point.” Aurora’s watch alarm started going off and she said, “I’ve gotta get going. I promised to help my pen pal move into her new apartment.”
“Fellania’s moving in?” Jazza asked, “I thought she just came for that one visit.” Aurora smiled widely and said, “She likes Southtown so much that she wants to move into an apartment here. It’ll be great. We’ll be able to hang out with her now. Isn’t that great?”
Jazza had a nervous grin on his face as he thought, ‘It would be, if I didn’t still have bruises from when she helped me with my workout last month. The only good thing about that whole disaster was that I learned some new moves.’
“Maybe we can help you,” said Calvin, “It might be some great training.” Aurora giggled and said, “Thanks guys. She gave me her address. We can head over their now.”
Half an hour later, the group had arrived at the Apartment building. The doorman told them exactly where Fellania’s apartment was. It was floor 4, apartment 420. Arriving on the fourth floor via the elevator, and headed out to find the right number.
“Fellania,” Aurora called out, “I’m here. And I brought my friends.” Fellania, who was a rather large, muscular woman with reddish-brown hair, had her hair down, had her glasses on, and was dressed in a blue dress shirt and matching skirt, which were both rather large, walked out and said, “What kept you? I’m almost done. But it’s good to see you Aurora. Oh, and hello again, Jazza.”
Jazza waved nervously, while Calvin and Susie just looked in shock. ‘Aurora left out the fact that her friend was a giant,’ Susie thought. ‘That’s a woman?’ Calvin thought. Fellania walked towards Calvin and said, “You must be Calvin. Aurora told me about what happened with Reinku. You’re a good kid.”
“Kid?” Calvin asked, “I’m in High School.” Fellania smiled and said, “I’m 30 years old. Compared to me, all four of you are kids.” Calvin felt a bit insulted by that comment. Fellania let out a big smile and said, “I hear you’re pretty tough.”
Calvin laughed with an embarrassed look on his face and said, “Well, I don’t like to brag…” “Since when?” Susie said. Fellania then said, “Well, maybe you’d be up for a battle sometime.” Jazza, after hearing that, waved his hands, trying to tell Calvin not to accept, but Calvin said, “You bet.” ‘He’s doomed,’ Jazza thought.
Sometime later, at the Southtown gym, the group, joined by Fellania, had arrived at the sparring ring. “It’s been a while since I’ve had a good Card Battle,” said Calvin. “Well, this may be different than what you’re used to,” Fellania said, “They announced the new rules for Fights, which are a bit different from the Card Game.”
“New rules?” asked Aurora. Fellania nodded and said, “First, we activate our Fighter Change cards at the same time, and the structure of turns are removed, just so it can be like a real fight. We can still use our Fighter cards, but only as support, or to boost our Soul Points. We can also use our Action and Reaction cards as always. The best part is that we can block our opponent’s attacks to reduce or cancel the damage. In addition, the Decks are reduced to 30 cards as opposed to the usual 50, but we get five card hands displayed on our cases, and when we use a card, it’s instantly replaced by the next card in the Deck.”
“Those are some interesting new rules,” said Jazza. Fellania said, “Maybe, but those are the rules that we’ll play in the King of Cards. Just think of the card game rules as a type of training.” Calvin cracked his knuckles and said, “I don’t care what rules we have, as long as we get to fight.”
As the two stepped into the ring, Calvin was ready right away, but Fellania said, “Just a minute, okay?” She quickly removed her clothes, revealing an ultramarine blue workout outfit. She then tied her hair back into a ponytail and removed her glasses, replacing them with contact lenses.
“What are you doing?” Calvin asked. Fellania grinned and said, “This is how I usually start my workouts and fights. I find this outfit a lot easier for both, and I have to make sure my hair’s tied back, and I have to swap my glasses with contacts. I don’t want anything to block my vision in a fight, and I’d prefer not to ruin my dress clothes.”
“Well,” said Calvin, “Are you ready now?” Fellania nodded, pulled out her Fighter Change card and said, “Does this answer your question, kid? Fighter Change!” In a flash of light, Fellania had become her bear woman form, only this time, she looked a little more pumped up than when Jazza saw her before. ‘Oh crap,’ he thought, ‘She was big the last time, but now she’s massive. Calvin doesn’t stand a chance.’ “This is my Fighter Change form,” Fellania said, “Mighty Bearess (Type: Power).”
‘She’s even bigger than her human form,’ Susie thought as she stared in shock. Fellania then started performing several bodybuilding poses, showing just how strong she really was, and many of the guys in the gym seemed to notice. “Not bad,” said Calvin, “But it takes more than big muscles to win a fight. Fighter Change!” He had transformed into his Tiger Warrior form, as he tied on his headband. “Here I come,” Calvin said, “Tiger Warrior (Type-All-Around).” He stood in a fighting pose and said, “Come on.”
He then stood ready to face Fellania and prepared for one of his favorite moves. “Ko’oh-Ken!” he shouted as his punch was released as a blast of ki and collided with Fellania’s torso. Even with her rock-hard abs, Fellania still felt the blow. ‘He’s stronger than he looks,’ she thought (HP-2700).
“How’d you do that?” asked Aurora. Calvin smiled and said, “After I mastered the Sen-Kemono-Ha, I figured out how to use my Ko’oh-Ken as a projectile, so I wouldn’t have to get close to a large opponent.” He then moved in and struck her with a blazing uppercut as he shouted, “Kohoh: Tiger Roar!” It then seemed the bear woman had blocked the move. ‘Uh-oh,’ Jazza thought.
“That’s quite a punch you’ve got kid,” Fellania said, “But you really shouldn’t have gotten so close to me.” She then captured Calvin in her massive arms, almost like it was a hug. “Hey!” Calvin yelled, “Let me go!”
Fellania exerted her strength by flexing harder and harder while Calvin was in her grip. “That looks painful,” said Susie, “A Bear Hug from a bear-woman’s got to be painful.” “The truth is,” Fellania said to Calvin, “Despite my size I’m a gentle person. I don’t like to fight, but technically, a bear hug isn’t fighting.”
The pressure on Calvin’s body said otherwise (HP-2400). “Not bad,” he said in a winded voice, “But moves like that can’t beat me.” He exerted all his strength to break out of the hold and struck Fellania with two spinning kicks in a row: “Hienshippu-Kyaku!” Fellania rubbed the spot on her face where she was hit (HP-2500).
“So you use Kyokugen Style Karate,” said Fellania, “Isn’t that interesting?” Calvin landed and said, “So is this. Ring in, Suiko and Raiju.” As his Water Tiger and electric weasel appeared alongside him, everyone else in the gym was surprised.
Fellania grabbed 2 cards from the projection on her Deck Case and said, “We’ve playing like that, huh? Ring in, Amazons.” Two Amazons appeared alongside her, looking ready for battle. Just as Calvin’s Suiko was about to attack, Fellania said, “Here’s a Reaction card: Megaton Punch (SP-4).” This allowed her to seriously weaken the tiger with one punch (BP-300).
Calvin was able to leap out and strike one of the Amazons with an Uppercut, but took a hit from the second one (HP-2000). “Let’s see how you like this,” Fellania said as she triggered a Psych Up card. Then, she grabbed another card and said, “Let’s see if can avoid this. Earth’s Pike!” As the card disappeared, Fellania’s arm muscles seemed to temporarily swell up as her fist struck the ground, send Calvin flying (HP-1500).
He landed on his feet, looking pretty angry. He saw that the Amazons were going to attack, when he said, “Reaction Card: Battle Aura.” Both Suiko and Raiju were glowing with blue light as they took down both Amazons. Fellania ended up letting her guard down at the shock, as Calvin charged in and proceeded with a powerful Zanretsu-Ken. She could still feel the fists, even though she blocked at the last minute, but still took a heavy hit from the finishing uppercut (HP-1900).
Susie, Aurora, and Jazza were cheering Calvin on, as he readied himself for the next attack. ‘He doesn’t go easy on anyone, does he?’Fellania thought, ‘I might get some fun after all.’ As both of Calvin’s supporting Fighters prepared to strike, Fellania lifted her arms and spin around, knocking both of them back into their cards.
“What was that?” asked Calvin. Fellania grinned and said, “Did you like my Ursine Lariet? It’s good for blocking airborne attacks. And speaking of which…” She then leaped up, and prepared to hit Calvin with a choke-slam. “Look out!” Susie yelled. Fellania laughed heartily and said, “This is the style my father taught me: Bear-Style Pankration.”
“Pan-what?” Susie asked. “Pankration is a Greek form of wrestling,” said Jazza, “It uses a lot of primitive leg strike and grappling moves, but is incredibly powerful, especially with someone of Fellania’s size.”
Calvin pulled his fist back, and yelled out, “Kohoh Uppercut!” The Uppercut collided with the Piledriver, but both of them still took a bit of damage (Calvin-1300/Fellania-1700). Calvin then felt a slashing pain across his back. He looked behind him to notice a geisha dressed in the same color and glasses as Fellania.
“A Geisha Assailant (BP-500/SP+1/Martial Artist),” said Jazza, “Nice move.” “This girl’s tough,” said Calvin, “Good thing I used Ultimate Guard to save myself, but why a geisha?” Fellania chuckled and said, “Didn’t you know? Some Geisha were trained a assassins.”
“You just made that up,” Calvin said in denial. The geisha was about to use her fan to attack again, but Calvin’s KaraTengu was able to protect him, knocking the attacker away with a powerful punch. “Let’s see you escape me this time,” Fellania said. She charged forward, only to see herself get shot into the air by an Earth’s Pike (HP-1200).
‘Call a KaraTengu, and add an Emulate card,’ said Calvin, ‘and you’ve got a great counterattack.’ He saw Fellania fall, and took advantage of the situation to use a Ko’oh-Ken (HP-800). As the punch connected, Fellania landed on the ground, grabbed Calvin’s arm, and slammed him to the mat (HP-800).
Fellania got in a good flex as she said, “Had enough, kid? You can’t handle me.” Calvin stood up and said, “This says different.” He pulled out a card, which soon changed to a small ki blast. Calvin threw out the blast as he shouted, “Engokogeki!”
The blast hit Fellania (HP-700), which just got her angry. “You’re asking for it now, little man,” she said. She got Calvin in another Bear Hug and said, “I didn’t want to use this move, but you made me mad.” Her strong legs propelled her into the air, and prepared to do a belly flop, with Calvin to protect her torso.
As she descended back to the ground, she said, “Feel the pain. Ursine Power Bomb!” Everyone looked away, as Fellania and Calvin collided with the mat. The bearess got up and said, “Sorry about that, kid. But it had to be done. No shame in losing, but I hope I don’t have to take you to the hospital.”
“You won’t,” said Calvin. But Fellania was surprised that it didn’t come from the tiger-man she saw flat on his face on the mat. She then saw the figure change into KaraTengu, then disappear. ‘What?’ she thought.
She saw Calvin behind her, with his feet apart and his arms crossed in front of him, and he said, “KaraTengu has the ability to take the place of anyone else in the ring. I used it as a decoy so I could use my final attack.” Fellania seemed to know what he was going to do, so she charged towards him and said, “Oh no you don’!” She had her arm ready for a super strong lariat punch, but she was too late.
“Haoh!” Calvin shouted as he pushed his arms forward, “Shokou-Ken!” The massive burst of ki hit Fellania hard, knocking her on the mat (HP-0). Calvin raised his arm into the air and shouted out, “Alright!”
Aurora and Jazza were surprised that Calvin was able to win that fight, while Susie seemed to celebrate. As both Card Fighters returned to human form, Fellania got up and said, “That really was Kyokugen.”
Calvin asked, “How do you know about Kyokugen?” Fellania put her glasses back on and said, “That’s what got me the way I am today.” Calvin was intrigued. Fellania said, “You see, all those moves were taught to me by my father during my college years. But before that, I had not interest in fighting.”
“You never said anything about that to me,” said Aurora. Fellania sighed and said, “It never really came up. You see, my father was once of the greatest wrestlers in the world when I was a teenager, long before I became the full-figured goddess you see before you.” She laughed a bit, while Calvin, Susie, Jazza, and Aurora just sighed.
“Anyway,” said Fellania, “In those days, he was the biggest, most muscular warrior in the ring. That called him the Mighty Bear. I was a regular sized girl at the time, and thought that he was too arrogant for his own good. Then, it happened.A few days before heading off to college, my father found himself challenged by a strange man in an orange Karate outfit.”
“Really?” asked Aurora, who was in awe at the story. Fellania nodded and said, “This man said he was going to cut Father down to size. My father, who thought he was the stronger man because of his muscles, accepted the man’s challenge, but he lost. When he asked how he could be defeated, the man said, ‘Brute strength and large size are no match for Kyokugen Karate.’ Even though my father lost, I was inspired by the fight. Throughout my college years, I trained to be as strong as my father, who was humbled by his loss, and in return, he taught me his moves. I kept up my training, even though I only fought on occasion.”
“Same as me,” said Calvin, “Except my dad’s not a fighter, and I don’t want to be your size, and I enjoy battling to become stronger.” Fellania laughed and said, “I took up ‘Card Fighters’ as a hobby, but when I heard about the tournament from Aurora, I decided to enter, especially when I found out it was going to be held in Las Vegas. That’s one of the reasons I came to Southtown. I wanted to enter the preliminaries with my friend Aurora, and help her and her friends train. That and I got a great teaching job here.”
“Cool,” said Calvin. Just then, both of them heard their stomachs rumbling. Calvin and Fellania then both said, “Anyone hungry?”
Sometime later, at a local Chinese Restaurant, Jazza and Susie were disgusted, and Aurora was giggling, at the scene of seeing Calvin and Fellania eat. “That woman looks like a bear and eats like one too,” said Jazza. “And Calvin’s just as bad,” said Susie.
Aurora smiled and said, “Looks like those two are going to get along just fine.” Fellania grinned and said, “Don’t worry guys. I’ve got the bill covered. You wouldn’t believe how much I earn in my teaching job.” Then she and Calvin held out their plates and said, “More please!” The waiter was shocked that they were still hungry.
The group was unaware that Reinku had just returned to Southtown. He thought, ‘It’s time to regain my honor.’
