Diyan was looking around the crowds, attempting to find someone he might recognized. But the masks...the masks made it difficult. It wasn't until he heard the announcement of Zianas performance that he was able to find someone he recognized, there on the stage was Ziana. His heart leaped when he saw how beautiful she was in the spotlight. A flurry of mixed emotions swelled up inside as she began to sing, he was drawn towards her. Ears poised attentively he began slowly moving his way through the groups of kin, some dancing together in pairs, others standing with great interest in the performance. Diyan felt light on his feet, a warmth within his chest burning.
He slowly got closer and closer but stopped. There was a kin infront of him that he caught at the edge of his vision. He moved his attention to this kin. Red velvet fur, a similar copper mask.... he smiled wide and looked up at the stage at Ziana, knowing what she had planned all along. Chuckling to himself he was glad he had such a wonderfully friend. He hoped that Ziana could see him right now, to see her plan unfold.
He approached the red velvet kin from the side. He bowed, extending a hand towards her, keeping his gaze down so she couldn'tsee his eyes. "Fair maiden, may I ask of you this dance?"
Acilia was only vaguely aware of the other kin around her, focused mostly on the stage. But then a male was asking to dance and while she didn't think twice about it, it was curious. She couldn't hear him that well over the orchestra but his intention seemed clear. She smiled and gave him a small curtsey as she agreed, looking him over.
She couldn't see much of his fur or face, not with their outfits and masks. Still, she allowed him to guide her a bit away from the thick of the crowd as the music began around them. She spun elegantly before he drew her close and she scrutinized him a bit more now that they were close enough. Away from everyone else she could focus purely on the male, noticing that their masks complimented each other.
Drawn so close to him and their eyes finally meeting she knew. Acilia couldn't help herself, throwing her arms around the man as she gripped him tight. Her fingers tangled tight into his hair and she knew she was crying in public, in plain sight of the world, and she didn't care.
"Diyan, you're here," She managed to gasp out. "I n-never gave up h-hope," The normally composed woman was overcome with tears of joy at finally being reunited with her long lost brother.
His heart was beating a mile a minute as he guided her to a spot where the crowd was thinner. As he drew her close to begin the dance he looked into the eyes that matched his own. He smiled wide, a tears already forming. "H-Hey Acilia" he said softly, voice cracking a little from being overwhelmed with emotions.
He held onto her tightly as if he was worried of falling. His chin nestled atop her head between her her horns. Tears flowing freely as he embraced his sister, his beloved sister. His tail swung around and wrapped around her hips as an added embrace. "Acilia, I missed you" he nuzzled his nose into her hair, breathing in the forgotten scent of family. "I am so sorry for leaving. I should have stayed" his heart ached with the pains of events past and the lost years he could have spent with his sister. His eyes were shut tightly as he cried with her.
She could barely shake her head but did it as carefully as she could. She briefly released him to pull both the masks off, letting them fall to the ground. She'd get them later . But Diyan had nothing to apologize for. She knew who to blame. "This wasn't you." She could scarcely whisper it out, still tangled as closely as she could be while the unsuspecting kin danced around them. "I love you," She said it softly against his ear, a thing she'd only said to her mother and siblings since Diyan had disappeared. She had felt torn in two, stuck there in Azrah and what her life had been and then longing to be where Diyan was.
She swallowed heavily and pulled back enough to grip his chin, searching his face for any cuts and injuries. Physically he seemed okay, although the bright blond was a bit of a surprise. His hair had been so much darker. "I can't believe you're finally here." She said as she reached up to wipe his tears, completely ignoring her own. Her smile was radiant as could be, finally feeling like she was whole again.
The masks fell to the floor, clattering, almost symbolically of the mental masks they both have worn for so long. When they were together they could never keep secrets and their true selves shone brightly. But since his departure years ago he had dawned a mask that hid behind it regrets and pains that only his sister knew. The moment Acilia removed the masks he felt lighter, her words solidifying the feeling. He didn't realize how badly he needed his sister at this point in his life.
'I love you' such sweet words. He embraced her tightly again, a hand at the back of her head, fingers in her hair as he kissed her forehead. "I love you too Acilia" he said, equally soft, moving back a little so he could get a good look at his sister. He gently cupped her cheeks, thumbs wiping her tears away as she wiped his. "I can't believe it either. I was scared of what I'd find if I returned...but I'm glad i got the push i needed to come" he said, looking into Acilias eyes, such pure, wholesome love radiating from the siblings
