EasterSurge!
Ok so this is just a cute story I wrote up TODAY, its nothing major or explosively exciting but it IS Easter related. Playing an event on FF14 last night made the inspiration buttons trigger and made me want to write this, though it is a story relating to ShadowSurge, helping an orphanage get the party they wanted with an awesome heroine to host it! NOW I MIGHT do a part two of this, read the whole story and you will find out why. This part is SFW while part two will be very much NSFW, also as with all my stories I will NOT be putting this in pink text in case it is too hard for some to read. Different formats can be requested if you wish, with that in mind - ENJOY!:
Walking along the street the dusk shaded lapin strutted happily along her way home, enjoying the semi sunny weather in her custom school uniform given to her by Prof. Ray, holding her book bag close as she can only guess how many eyes were glued to her as she walked by, given the uniform's look.
Not that she minded, it was really rather flattering to know how many were attracted to her. Though the tag on her collar said that she was already taken, as did the mark on her neck region. She was rather content with life between her day job and her ‘day job’, always helping others in and out of her professions.
Doing so ever since she arrived from her home, DarkWood Mountain Isle, had granted her quite the following and fan base. Even among children it seemed, watching them walk around with action figures, dolls, backpacks, shirts and a whole mass of other merchandise. It was nice to see that she was getting to the younger crowd almost as much as the adult.
The adult side of her fan base may see her as the heroine, protector of the innocent and upholder of the law. However some of them saw her as something...else for certain. However she shrugged it off, whatever made them happy and eager to see another day. Seeing their smiles and excited expressions when she came along was enough to keep her going, and showing off at times.
Having decided to take the scenic route with the weather being as nice as it was she slung her bag over her shoulder and began to lightly skip until she got to a corner and heard a few children crying softly, scooting up to the edge she began to listen to what was happening. Her nexus hearing came in handy for things like this, allowing her to take in everything clearly, as the conversation went with a disheartened tone.
First what seemed to be an adult female, then another. “Miss Meria, are you CERTAIN they aren’t coming?” The next female seemed older but no less upset “I’m afraid that’s right, there’s not going to be an easter this year for us, the easter bunny couldn’t come.” Putting a look on the children's faces that could make a grown man cry himself. “I’m so sorry little ones, go inside and tell Brad that I am allowing a special treat for today instead, we will be in shortly” The tone could be taken as -I need to have a private word with my assistant here-.
With heads down low and soft tears leaking from their faces, the dark lapin soon heard a door open...the close. The younger female spoke in a more exasperated and hastened “Alright Meria, what happened?! We had this planned WEEKS ago! Where is the girl we hired to do the decorating? The egg planting...EVERYTHING even?!” A heavy sigh came from the older female before she replied “She called early this morning, said she got a higher paying job that was out of town two weeks ago…” The younger woman seemed to get further irritated, but kept her voice down so as to not tip the little ones off. “Two...weeks? She knew for two weeks and didn’t SAY anything?”
Meria shook her head and growled softly “Apparently she had forgotten about the party she booked here, said she went out to party that night when she found she got the job she applied for and got so hammered that she forgot about most of the previous day, and before you say it Nixxy - YES I agree that’s inexcusable for a party and event already planned in advance.” Putting her muzzle into her hands Nixxy muffled her voice “What about the children, did she have any remorse for how THEY would feel?”
Staying silent for a moment, as if to contain her own anger, Meria took a deep slow breath. “She said...well...maybe it’s time to tell them the truth anyway, they are gonna find out sooner or later so who cares if it’s now or later?” The eavesdropping lapin gagged in disgust as she whispered to herself ‘Are you SERIOUS? What a…’ stopping to remember she was near children she curbed her vocabulary. ‘..brat.’
Before Nixxy could go out in another anger seared remark Meria put her hand up “I know I know...very ‘uncool’ as the kids these days would put it, but it’s out of our hands now there’s nothing we can do, now let's go inside and see how the kids are enjoying the treat Brad gave them, it’s going to be a long weekend for sure.” Drooping her ears she walked up the steps to the door before looking back at Nixxy “Come along now.” Now being able to see the older fem, she could make out that she was a dire wolf, tall, strong and beautiful with cobalt blue fur and silky long jet black hair, spectacles dawn her muzzle.
Nixxy stared off into the air as she replied “I’ll be in soon, I need some air to clear the BS I just heard.” Meria being the traditional one raised an eyebrow “Long as you leave THAT at the door as well, don’t be long dear.” Once again hearing the door open and close, Nixxy began mumbling rather colorful language under her breath before finally coming to clear dialogue “Give you the real truth you cold hearted….”
Thinking for a moment the lapin decided she had to do something, no one should be sad about anything they look forward to ALL YEAR, as she peeked a bit further to get the girls attention. “Pst!, pssst!, hey come here!” Hearing the voice Nixxy looked up and curiously but cautiously walked over and came to stand before the university student.
“Hi there, you must be Nixxy!” The dark lapin smiled at the purple and cyan vixen before her, Nixxy looking even more curious. “Yes, can I help you? Were you eavesdropping?! Who are you?!” The lapin made a shushing gesture “Yes I eavesdropped and I’m sorry for that, my name is Veria and I wanna help! Those poor children seemed so eager to have it, and I wanna help make it come about!”
Nixxy’s expression softened into concern as she looked to make sure no one else was listening. “But...it’s in TWO days, that’s not enough time to gather everything and set it up!” Veria shaking her head and winking “It is if you know the right people, the day of Easter, leave the back door unlocked and take the kids to the park down the street for a couple hours, then come back, everything will be set, just make sure during that time that no one else is in the building!”
Nixxy's head tilted confused as she raised a brow “There’s...no park down there...and how do I know I can trust you? I don’t even KNOW you!” Raising her hand in a gesture she perked “Regulator’s honor, you can trust me! As for the park, don’t worry, it’ll be there.” looking nervous but feeling she could trust the sudden appearance of the lapin for some reason she nodded. “Alright, two hours, you will have your window. I...WE will owe you for this!”
Nodding and waving goodbye to the vixen she quickly hurried home, she knew a good bit about the holiday but getting some input wouldn’t hurt. She went to the best source she could think of, an actual easter bunny. Remaining incognito the one she wouldn’t contact gave her the full details and intricacies along with how to decorate and properly set things up, along with a quite direct warning “You tell ANYONE, I am one…” The glare from the bright eyes on the other side of the video call was enough for the lapin to get a CLEAN hint. “Yes ma’am, no one will know…”
The darkened figure nodded “Good, now I will be sending two assistants to hand out eggs and treats and tend to the party as needed, I will retrieve them when it is over, do not worry about them.” With her ears perked high and tail flitting in excitement she closed the call “Thank you ma’am!” the other figure simply nodded and smirked “mhmm.” As if to simply convey ‘Yeah yeah, you owe me now get goin…’
The next thirty six hours Veria began gathering and preparing everything she would need, hiding it all in a container left by her contact just outside the orphanage. She would make sure this would be an easter holiday NONE of them would forget, as it wouldn’t be just some random bunny to host the party, thinking to herself as she gazed over her heroic costume. Come the day of, she tugged on her latex garments and waited for them to leave. At about noon she would see Nixxy come to the back door to take out the trash and leave it unlocked.
Soon after her, Meria and the kids would be seen walking down the street towards the newly placed park. With that she went to work, using her electrical jumps of speed to run the decorations and supplies in and put them in the right spots. While doing that, the children began giving curious questions about the park that Nixxy had been telling them about. “What’s it like?; Is it big?; Is there a sandbox?; Are there swings?!”
Nixxy giggled and shrugged with a smile “I don’t know children, this is a brand new park, they JUST finished it!” A slightly nervous tone in her voice as they were about to come around the block to the mentioned location. Meria, a little nervous herself, tried to be supportive but also remained skeptical, leaning into the vixen so the little ones wouldn’t hear “Nixxy, while I appreciate you coming in so the rest of the staff could be off with their families today, are you feeling well?; You sure we are going the right way? There is no park down here. It's just been an empty lot for almost three years now!”
Not entirely sure herself if it would be there she nodded, trying to keep her faith in the stranger she met. “Yes, it’s there! I assure you it is!” Meria shaking her head and stopping while the rest of them continued onward to the corner “Nixxy! I..ugh…” Still stressed over the party and event being cancelled she gestured for all them to come back the other way. “Let’s just go back we can sit down and play a game, there is no p-!”
“Paaaark!!!” All the kids cried out at the same time as they bolted to the ‘SOMEHOW’ newly built park Meria in shock as she slowly made her way to the park then shrugging it off “I guess, this must have been a private project, not gonna complain though! A nice open place for the kids to play, now!; now children wait for us!!” As she picked up the pace to go after the little ones. As Nixxy stood in a far deeper shock shaking her head “That’s...not possible...two days, how did she???” Looking around she found one of the park signs and read it.
Solarix Orphanage Park - Open To The Public - Funded And Donated By The Revolution Fusion Radio Station. Below that was an engraved image of the station's owner and lead host Veria -Sparkz- Dejitarukage along with one of her quotes - Any hero becomes powerless when they have no reason to continue fighting, give them that reason everyday, minds and worlds can change with the simplest act of kindness.
Smiling softly, still in a slight stupor she shook her head and went to help watch the now laughing and happy children as they played. Meanwhile loud bangs and soft flashes of light came from within the orphanage as the lapin continued to work and set it all up, making things festive, bright and colorful. Using her electrical powers and skill of magnetism she would shoot the nails into the walls where she needed as she set up a massive banner, games and streamers.
Nearing completion she hears some steps behind her and raises a brow seeing who’s there. It couldn’t be them back ALREADY, after a few moments she smiled as the steps came through the door. Four additional bunnies, two male, two female, dressed festively and bowing their heads. “I’m guessing you four are my help! Everything you need is in the dining room and kitchen, set up baskets for all the kids and get dinner ready! I already took care of the staff members baskets! Nodding they bowed their heads and walked off to finish preparing.
Some time later Meria and Nixxy flagged the children down and said it was time to go home, even with few disappointed ‘awwws’ the kids came together and began walking with them both, Meria smiling over at Nixxy “Well, remind me never to question you again, you really made the kids day. I’ll have to call that lovely girl Veria and thank her for this HUGE donation to the orphanage and the city, such a sweet thing she is, beautiful too. Nixxy raised a brow to the older fem and snickering “You're making it sound like you're gonna call her for a DATE.”
The wolf scoffed and laughed softly “Oh don’t be ridiculous!” One of the boys calling out “A date, isn’t that were you kiss and stuff? Ewww!!” causing the entire group to bust out into giggles as they reached the steps to home. Hearing the locks in the door beginning to turn and click, the dark lapin closed the door leading to the main playroom, massive thing that it was and looked at her assistants “We good to go?” All nodding in unison before one of the males spoke “Yes miss, food has been made baskets are set out as you can see.”
“Good! Wait here, I’m gonna give these kids one last surprise but I want them to have their baskets first.” With that she went to hide in the next room and waited for them to enter. Hearing them come down the hall, happy to hear giggles and laughter she perked her ears waiting for the moment to hit, as Meria spoke to the kids. “Alright little ones, let's go into the playroom and pull out some ga-...”
Standing in shere shock as she opened the door and saw the biggest set of easter and party decorations she had ever laid eyes on. While the kids gasped in shock and saw their names on huge baskets full of candy and gifts, running to them with various cheers and squeals of happiness. “Miss Meria I thought you said there wasn’t going to BE an easter for us?!” Meria and Nixxy both standing there slowly starting to shed soft tears as they hug each other, easter may not mean much to many, but it meant something to the kids and that is what was most important to them.
The ‘Easter Bunnies Assistants’ got to work helping the kids with opening their baskets and explaining all the games they would be playing including the even traditional egg hunt. Meria looked down into Nixxy’s eyes and wiped her tears away. “Meria, how….who did you find on short notice to set this up?! How did they do it so fast?!” Nixxy looking back thought about it and was about to speak before she turned her head to a voice and footsteps. “Well now, couldn’t disappoint the little ones now could we?”
The vocal tones sharp and forward, like a true heroine as before all of them stood The Melded Shade: ShadowSurge. The kids all looked up and nearly dropped their baskets, before setting them down and running to the bunny “SHADOWSURGE?!! IT’S SHADOWSURGE!!” They jump and hug the heroine as she kneels down to give them what they want with giggles of her own.
Meria and Nixxy looked simply dumbfounded that such a figure would help out with such a thing, one particular child seemed more eager than the rest, looking at the lapin like she was in the presence of her idol, a sweet looking black and white splotchy cabbit girl. Nixxy all the while had a running though ‘Is that...Veria?;...nah couldn’t be!...could it?...naaaah.’
Looking up to both adults as the children try to get her to play games she waves bye to them “I guess I’ll talk to you both later!” joining in the festivities and games with her assistant bunnies, Nixxy even invites her boyfriend over to help and have dinner after the egg hunt and helping the kids go through their baskets. Dinner time came what felt far sooner than expected, teaching the kids that time flies when you're having fun. At the dinner table the heroine shared some of her stories and heroic feats, at the end she would also hand each of the children a crystal egg that shimmered and would glow brightly in the light or dark, a personal gift from herself.
Though the day was fun and was well towards the end of the party, they all wished it would never end. It was inevitable however, with the children becoming tired and weary from the long busy day. ShadowSurge even sticking around to tuck them into their beds with the rest of the staff, her assistant bunnies helping the clean up. As she was about to leave the same little cabbit girl came running to her holding a small bunny plush of the heroine herself and clung to her leg “Noo...please don’t go!”
Seeing the girl giving that trembling lip look, ready to cry she kneels down and hugs the girl picking her up and carrying her to bed. Meria came to take her from ShadowSurge and whispered ‘sorry’ the heroine stopped her and smiled ‘no, no, let me handle this. Bringing the girl back into her room she lays her down and tucks her back in, even as the young hybrid sniffles “Why don’t you want me to leave?” Sitting up the girl responded while clinging to her ShadowSurge plush. “Because the other kids pick on me! Call me names because I have long ears and a long tail!”
Looking over at Meria and Nixxy the lapin raises a brow, both of them look back as if they didn’t know. Giving them both the benefit of the doubt she looks back at the cabbit girl “Now you listen to me, you ignore those mean things they have been saying to you. You're beautiful and special, you are unique and have a very good future ahead of you, you should really consider getting into beauty and modeling.” The little girl, even at her age knew what such things were, much to the heroine's surprise.
“You think s-so Miss ShadowSurge?” as she wiped the tears streaming down her face and eyes, the lapin nodded “Most definitely, you are what they call an exotic, and exotic is in demand. However, your life, your choice. You got a whole world in front of you, walk it and see where it leads. Oh and if they pick on you some more...just tell them one thing, stop making fun of me...I’m exotic too.”
This seemed to be what the cabbit needed to hear as she gasped and hugged the lapin’s neck, rubbing the girls back in return she put her back to bed and kissed her head before getting up and looking back with the girl calling for one more thing “Miss ShadowSurge?” “Yes?” going quite for a moment she spoke with slight concern “Could you also speak to Miss Meria?; I think she could use some nice words too.”
“Why do you say that?” The cabbit turned on her side as she was getting even more sleepy now that she was laying down properly “I sometimes hear her whimpering in her room, saying things like she’s lonely and that she wishes someone would come scratch her itch...or..some..thin…*yawn* Maybe she has fleas or something.” The girl soon drifts off, ShadowSurge looking at Meria as if to study her as she closes the girls bedroom door.
Meria was talking to Nixxy and her boyfriend. Carefully watching the dire wolf the lapin soon noticed a tell, where she would scratch and seemingly tug at the air around her neck. As if she was reaching for something that wasn’t there. Like she was used to something being around that area, then looking around the direwolves desk and noticing a number of ShadowSurge items, it clicked. Her eyes going wide then narrowing into a normal sweet gaze, her lips going into a grin. She scribbles down a note using a colored pencil and paper from the crafts table, putting her symbol on the front and then slipping into Meria’s basket.
Then walking to all three of them she puts her hands together “SO, all the children are in bed and my assistants will help finish the cleaning and they too will see themselves out! I do hope you didn’t mind the sudden surprise!” Meria took both the bunnies hands into her own and then hugged her tightly “Thank you so much!! How can we repay you?!” The heroine shook her head as she was released “Just continue to do what you do, for the community and the children, I hate to do this but I must really be going, city patrol and all.”
Giving Nixxy a hug then pulling her boyfriend into one, cutely shy as he was around another female. “Yes of course! Goodbye ShadowSurge, thank you again!” waving bye to them all before jolting herself into a nearby computer and traveling along the power lines back out of the building. Soon after the night began to wind down, the assistant bunnies left and were picked up in a private limo. Nixxy’s boyfriend went home and Meria and her finished up and prepared for bed.
Just as she was shutting down her computer for the day, she admired the special crystal egg that she and the other staff members had also gotten from the heroine as gifts, along with their personal baskets. Tilting her head and seeing a curious note on the edge of the basket, facing her. Taking it she opened it and read its contents, it had an address, dates and times along with a note. “Come on over, and we will see about those...fleas.” Along with a winking face drawn at the end. A heavy blush came over her as it clicked in her head ‘Did...did she just get an invitation for a...thing from a heroine?; from SHADOWSURGE?!’ Looking back down at the note ‘Yes...yes she did...oh dear…’
Walking along the street the dusk shaded lapin strutted happily along her way home, enjoying the semi sunny weather in her custom school uniform given to her by Prof. Ray, holding her book bag close as she can only guess how many eyes were glued to her as she walked by, given the uniform's look.
