I actually only watched the 1995 movie so i have no idea about the live action ! Yes, the scarlett johansson thing really put me off as well :') in general i don't like how american movies erases the cultures they're adapting from (even though the japanese setting in GITS isn't as important as it is in akira for example)
It could be a good movie to watch nonetheless but i think if i look deeper into this series i'd rather start with the manga :D

oh yes, the latest one has been design with the help of kuvshinov ilya ! He's a great artist but the female characters he designs, as pretty as they are, look really bland to me :(
haha, speaking of Akira VHS, i had bought one online before the lockdown and the shipping got suspended so it's… navigating somewhere in France i guess :'D It truly is a great movie, as much as i enjoyed watching a clean remastered version first there is a lot of charm to the vhs visuals ♫

yes ! I've gotta say it's also for the aesthetic of it, it's a nice thing to have ! Unfortunately VHS quality gets worse and worse as time passes so it's nice to have a dvd you can Watch again and again :D (and also it's nice to have all the dubs/ subtitles/ and making of/bonuses on one disc)
I'm forever a fan of having a physical property i can Watch as much as i want once it's bought haha
