Trap the Soul, Level 8 Sorcerer/Wizard spell.
This wordy spell does not even accurately say what it does in the title, evoking images of soul-yanking and grabbing departed spirits.
Instead, it imprisons the targets body and soul both into a gemstone indefinitely, leaving no physical trace of them behind. Very useful for making someone simply vanish, because you can then put anti-divination spells on the gem so no one can ever learn what happened. :D
As an added bonus, this spell can be used in two separate ways - the first is simply using the spell and trying to beat the targets Will save and Spell Resistance.
The second is where you prepare the gem beforehand and write their name on it (magically) and get them to accept the gem willingly. Then it takes effect automatically, with no save allowed. :P
Yes, the abuse is staggering when you can beat a dragon instantly by offering him a glittery object, but to be fair the value of the gem required is based on the Hit Dice of the target creature, so it gets pretty expensive on those big dragons.

Hmm I was wondering something, though there's probably no answer in the books to it. If a person is trapped with this spell then while they are in the gem do they effectively stop aging? Is their mind intact? Can they find a way to manipulate their surroundings through it? And would it be possible for them to eventually break free of the gem in the future if it weakened, or was smashed, or were intentionally hidden away in it by their own choice to be released at a later time? And could a gem like that be used as a source of stolen magical energy to a caster, or maybe to power a golem, or even be controld a golrm by the person within?
This spell seems like it makes more sense than things where like only a demon can be bound inside an object or something, since aside from alignment targeting spells it doesn't really make sense why only say, a demon could bound(or even summoned) somehow.

Long question, but I'll try to answer them all.
When trapped in the gem, yes they stop aging, and their mind is intact, but no, they cannot interact with the outside world, though it is possible they can see everything going on. They cannot break out unless the gem is damaged/destroyed or the spell broken some other way.
However, I suppose if there was some creative use of magic item creation you could draw on the soul as a power source - though not in the manner of Eragon where you can just link to it and get power, some item would be required. Not sure if using it for a golem would be a good idea, they would probably not be very cooperative if they got soultrapped.
