Here's yet another picture from my photo-op series; this time of me (left) with
Yippee (a.k.a. Yippee Coyote)!
We'd first met back in the early 1990s at PhilCon (a sci-fi/fantasy convention in Philadelphia, PA), when he and his roommate from Orlando, FL
Cooner were promoting the comic book "Buffalo Wings", as well as their artistic talents in other anthropomorphic comic books and fanzines. He even drew his 'fursona' (then, a rabbit) in my big black sketchbook...
The next time we'd met was after my move to Florida in the mid-1990s, where I saw him in one of his fursuits at OasisCon in Orlando. His costume was that of a wolf. Later, I was reunited with him (and several anthroartist/fursuiter pals of his) at the Celebrity Mascot Games - an annual event in which mascots from professional and collegiate sports teams participate in outlandish events (like 'Musical Chairs' and various relay races). The photo you see of us took place at the 1996 edition of the games.
Yippee and I would meet a few more times at both OasisCon and the Celebrity Mascot Games, prior to his relocation from Florida to California, but he would occasionally come back to the 'Sunshine State' - either to visit his parents in south Florida or to attend the Celebrity Mascot Games in Orlando. By then, he had altered his 'fursona' from the rabbit to the wolf, and now his familiar coyote character - the costume of which he wears at furry cons and at events like the Doo-Dah Parade.
One thing for sure about Yippee: between his artistic talents and his fursuiting activities, you can't say he's not busy!
The last time we saw each other was a brief one-night stopover at "Megaplex" - Florida's own 'furry con' - back in the days when it was still held in Orlando. (Now, it's taking place to the west in Kissimmee.)
Yippee and I still keep in touch with each other (through E-mail and Instant Messenger), especially in March, since our birthdays both take place that month. (Respectively, mine is on the 1st, while his is on the 17th.)
