As folks around the world work their way through lockdowns and social isolation, I thought I’d bring some of my old holiday pictures here. I hope that they will serve as a reminder of good times past, and of the good times we will certainly have again.

The Spanish city of Benidorm, as with many European cities, can be split into the old town and the new town. The divisions between these two can often be blurred, such as in the centre of Prague where the old town melds seamlessly with the newer buildings surrounding it on the east bank of the Vltava. In Benidorm, that separation is more obvious. Between the older town to the west, and the newer tourist hub in the east, there is an avenue of lush green public space known as Parc L’Aigüera. While the park contains many hundreds of trees and several sports facilities, one of the most striking features to me was this classically-styled amphitheatre. I can only imagine performances of Greek or Shakespearian plays happening here on warm summer evenings…and then I remember it’s Benidorm, and those imaginations are soon washed away in a sea of cheap booze and tourist tat. :P
