Arnoglossa - Reference sheet (by Shamerli)
The pic was inspired by this song
Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there was a young and brave hare who was granted a great honor because of his exploits in battle: to go to a hidden place, among the lights and shadows of the enchanted forests of the reign of Valmeridia, to meet an elderly and powerful blacksmith alchemist.
Ferdimondo Ramolaccio, the name of the brave warrior, would have had the privilege of having forged, by the skilled hands of that old goat, a weapon capable of never getting dull, with a blade flexible like a grass stalk and wrapped in a scabbard made of live leaves.
Arnoglossa, the alchemist ironically named it that way. On one hand because, precisely, it was forged by a goat like him (Arnoglossa, from the Latin "Goat's tongue"), on the other for the funny analogy: the sword would have been used by a hare like Ferdimondo (in Italian, a common name used for plantain is Orecchia di lepre, id est "Hare's ear"). And for that reason, even the magic used to summon it would have been bound to a plantain.
A beautiful schiavona, with the guard sparkling like a freshly blossomed field flower at the first morning dew, able to bloom from a magical plantain summoned simply by calling it by name, and able to disappear in a cloud of pollen at the moment when was no longer useful.
The years passed, and the young hare became a seasoned and esteemed warrior.
The reign of Valmeridia sung his praises when Ferdimondo Ramolaccio was assigned to the office of Captain of the guard.
But perhaps, the hare cared much more about the "unofficial" investiture, the one that the future little prince of the lands on which he rested his feet had given him. A nickname, nothing more, but the hare had appreciated it so much that from that day he asked to be called only like that by his protégé: Sir Cordiale.
Some more years passed, and so also the life of the brave warrior came to an end (even if the hare was still far from eternal rest). But Sir Cordiale knew that Arnoglossa was not made to lay with his remains in a cold grave, away from sunlight.
And so, he chose instead to give it to his pupil and protégé. The magic sword that day got a new owner.
No longer held in the hands of a hare, it now serves for Prince Borgon della Verbena, the young ruler of the princedom of Valmeridia...
Creating this commission was a real fun, both for the lore, which I wrote straight away and it seemed to work so well that I left several details unchanged even in the final draft, and for the professionalism of

I love schiavona swords, and not only because they're maybe the most famous blades of my country's history ^^ There's always in the way they were shaped that always met my likings.
Anyway, ahahah! Well, can be a way to deal with an enemy with a delicate nose, I suppose x3
