Okay, wow! Finally, FINALLY finished this. This is only a sketch, but DANG
did it feel like I've been working on it forever.
This was my second real attempt at trying to get a fully up to date creature done.
I had this sloppily sketched up, and on Twitter and FB asked some heavy-hitting
paleoartists to take a swing at critiquing it. I was super pleased that the critiques
were all super subtle changes! I must have had a good 14-15 people go over
this for me, including artists like Scott Hartman.
I chose a realistic utahraptor since that seems closest to what my style sticks to
in my much more fictional raptors. They're hella thicc and that just seems easiest
for me to start with.
I got educated a lot on individual bones and it really helped me out with
placements.
I got a long ways to go to be anywhere close to my idols, but this feels like an
okay second step on my journey of reconstructions!
I know it's not flashy and flaring a crazy rainbow mohawk all phantasmagorically,
nor is it my full renders but I hope some of ya like!
