this one took a very long time to get right, eventually I intend to colour this, if I can make up my mind what media to use. That's a heap of coal it's sitting on, it's white as I'm trying to figure out how to draw it in without having to draw every single lump one at a time! :P Any tips would be most welcome. As this is an old 19th century steam dragon it's flightless.

i don't know what medias you have at hand, but if you have access to water colours and china white, and intend to colour it by hand, try the following:
colour the whole heap of coal black, with a wide brush, if possible. let it dry, you my find that the colour didn't go evenly but create shaeds of anthrazite and pitch black. when you're staisfied with it, use a fine brush, a little water and china white (the stuff off from them little tubes that come with water colour sets works best) and add the highlights. do it irregular, since the bits of coal lay around scattered.
aside that, impressive design. of course, I don't know if using a powder keg as an upper arm is such a good idea... :)
