He liked my gestalt characters (that's 5 people that combine into one giant aka Voltron or Devastator), so he asked me to make some like that but of trains.
So, here's Alice, the first one. She is also the leader, hence the numerical designation of 001.
I can't say when I'll get to the other four but I plan on doing them in groups of 2.

I almost gave up on her too. When I got this request (and there's gonna be four more as well as the combined version of all 5) I had an idea for how she would look. Well, I had a hard time getting going on her appearance (which may have ben caused by a bit of depression and extreme fatigue from work).
Still I persisted.
On to the other four but first, a Kay O'Pectate pic for St. Pat'd Day. No nudity!

Cool! I love the camo style paint job on her armor Overall, this is "win". LoL At first, I thought this was a actual figurine posted when I was looking at the thumbnail. It was right next to someone else who submitted a photo of his Warhammer figures he's currently painting LoL. Yeah, I must confess, it had me fooled for a second.
Well the camo look was to make the metal look a bit more metal like. It got that look from Antarctic Press' How to Color series.
I think the background, the lighted circle and the reflection seemed to make her look like a figurine. And to think I did this during a state of depression and much fatigue.
That must mean that I may not be a fast artist but can really pack a punch.

That's my brain's fault. I LOVE detail! Hell, I even try to put a lot of detail in the background even though painter's like Bob Ross say that it would be unnecessary.
The rivets were easy to do. Just set PS's brush spacing to a setting that looks good and just make a live of them. Oh, and add some layer styled to make the rivets look 3D.

Thanks Joe. Okay, I'll try to be as concise as I can, so please bear with me:
Alice here is based of a streamlined Princess Coronation-class steam locomotive of the British London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). In particular, she's based on the fourth engine of the class, 6223 Princess Alice (hence the name), in the blue and white livery that the LMS painted some of the "Coronation"-class in for the prestigious Coronation Scot passenger express.

That's pretty conscise. If I did an explanation like that, it'd go on forever.
There's gonna be a little time before I get to another one. I"m taking an art "vacation" this month. Previous vacations, meant that I would do NO drawing at all. This time, I'm gonna do some drawing but nothing like my usual big, super detailed pics.
I'm gonna work on that Meghan and Summer portfolio story and maybe even try and finish this one comic page that I started waaaay back during Christmas week last year. I only just started to lay out the flat colors this week.
I can, however, read the description for the next one and start to think of the design.
