IS it wrong to say that this is actually breaking my heart a bit...? I hope that in the far future they both I dunno, gain back a sense of positivity?? To the point where they are more like upbeat jocks rather than cruel bullies? I mean, this guy said it best. They were simply changing to match the world around them, what if they change again in the future? I could imagine them forming a rather reluctant friendship with their epic rival! There's a thought! Obviously not right away as this comic is just an origin story. But still...!
This is pretty much the beginning of these two's journey. As more stories are released, there are more opportunities to show their development in both their characters and motivations. Initially these two were merely your typical bullies and now you know the reason behind that, who knows where life will take them but I'm pretty sure it will be very exciting to find out.
I can easily see them as monsters, then more easily sympathetic, then reluctant allies of their rival, then reluctant heroes than typical, wild, fun-loving jocks! This initial first step though. It's really good. I don't like it, but that only because I don't successfully stomach down things that get real. Technically this is me saying that you did an awesome job with the story while putting my own personal bias aside. Speaking of which, when can we expect to see the next page of the main story, hm?
