one has big, relatively sour ones, good for baking. the other has red-yellow ones, but last year they were riddled with mildew and stuff. :( they are sweet-sour, though. you could try and make juice of them.
some experts here struggle to find all the old and tested apple sorts out there, often finding new old ones nobody knows about anymore. seems like there are some 100 different apples out there, or more.
yeah, our summers seem to have dry spells often. instead of a little rain every couple days we have two weeks of extreme heat, one cloudbreak, heat again. there is no middle way anymore, only extremes...

It's similar with the summer weather around here. Unless the atmosphere gets more humidity from somewhere and starts what I call the storm cycle: tropical heat during the day, with obligatory extremely violent thunderstorm every single afternoon. And it can go on like this for weeks.
Though actually, the last summer was surprisingly cool and cloudy. The Western Europe got this super hot "Spanish plume" air current, but here, we got under a sort of back-flow bringing cooler air from the North. Can't complain, personally I'm handling the heatwaves very badly.
