Hey guys, it's the 2nd one for the month in these crazy times, so I have to do what I can to keep these reviews going. This time it's for a maduro. Let's get into it.
JFR Lunatic Short Maduro:
Wrapper: San Andres
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
It was the weekend again and I had a craving for another drive out into town. I got myself dressed and ready and looked at my stick for specs on appearance for my memory. The stick was the same layout from the previous review except with color and touch. For this it was something a little more richer from the look. I was probably in for more of a broader smoke. Veins and seems were moderate due to the dark toned color. The pre-slice draw was nice and vivid, so much more flow would come. Let's light it up and go for a drive.
The Burn Part 1:
As I went into the garage for a pre-light puff, I dad was moving a few things so we had enough room to work on the generator for repair. Had a part needed to be replaced. The first few puffs in the garage were very vibrant in sweet coffee notes along with some medium black pepper notes. Sort of a peppy morning cigar in some scenario. I drove around down the downtown route to get myself a restock of protien powder for smoothies. The next notes to come in were some roasty notes of cedar. Sort of an aged version taste. I was getting the feeling the feeling that this was the right time to smoke this. The weather was nice, it was after 11 am, and the traffic was surprisingly light.
The Burn Part 2:
As I rolled up the the drive through I rolled up the window a bit and turned on the air condition to find out that it effected my car and shut it down. The battery still worked but messed my car up either shutting it off or slowing it down as a drove. . This was right after I got my replacement protein powder. I immediately went to the club b/c a buddy of mine who works there knows cars. As the stick went further down the coffee notes got a little more robust in sweet texture. Almost like a toffee consistency. The medium black pepper stayed in the same level of peppiness. I got the cigar club and had my cigars ready for pick-up. Had my buddy check the issue and it got to the point where I had to immediately go back home and prepare to get my car looked into with the situation we have. So far, the cigar was stable in body between medium and full.
The Burn Final:
As I was near home, the stick itself didn't have any irregular changes other than the Coffee notes were leading in the race with the other notes. I drove up and had my car parked the other way in case I would need to get it towed to the shop. It eventually will get to the shop. I walked around the front for a bit as the stick was going down. Mainly the winner of the race notes were the coffee with the cedar in the middle and pepper last.
Verdict:
Something that's simple for both the size and the flavor, it's something I would recommend for the morning with a nice cup of coffee with no cream or sugar. Really grab yourself a few straight for the morning.
