First off I must state that this is by no means an effective way of doing such an image. I pretty much did line-art that I would ideally not even have to show in the finished product (line-art is bad for fully rendered art, okay). I did multiple layers that took care of one segment of the character, such as one layer for the shirt, one for the body etc. I should have simply done it loosely from scratch and worked on it from there. So I'll definitively revise my workflow after this and see if I can't make an image with the same quality, but with less steps getting there.
