Great color scheme but the painting could be a bit cleaner. Maybe get a finer brusch and give him a makeover and maybe some highlights.
One way to give him a special touch and an epic appearance would be to give him long flag pole on his back, on top a long banner with your poem on it. Cloth or thin cardboard would do a good job here.
