Well, Rats generally do better in pairs. Also, Cats and Rats can be just fine together. ;)

Oh heck yeah, pair are best. My friend had 2, one got ill and passed away.. the other one shortly after because he was so depressed. Didn't show any signs of illness either, just happened one morning. T_T
