In fact, this is two separate sketches, pasted up in Photoshop, showing what the comic might have looked like. I was obligated to create a cover for the first issue, and submitted this scene to Al for approval. The background would have been dark with a regular pattern of caduseuses (those medical staffs with the snakes). "Armed and Dangerous Comics" wasn't official, just something off the top of my head to fill the space. It seemed apt, though.
But Al preferred a group shot of the entire cast, more or less in a police line-up. I should have been expecting it, since Al seemed to have a thing for such ensemble shots -- I'd seen any number of commissions like that in his collection.
At that point talks stalled. I didn't much like Al's idea, which seemed undramatic (and a lot of dull work drawing standing characters). We fell out of touch soon after and no further progress was made.
If the show ever got on the road, I would probabably offer this cover again, but with Ursula and Rene reduced in size, and Al's line-up in the background.

Al's preference was a product of his taste in art, I think. He's always been partial to a group shot, though they tend to be static and unfocused. At this point, I realize I could probably have put his group shot behind the foreground action. But the project went no further.
well that to me sounds like either "if a tree falls in the forest and theres nobody there does it make a sound?" or maybe the art vs commerce argument. Well comics and such are horrible things to make a living at these days regardless of anthro content or not. and there is something to be said for art for arts sake. why create at all?because you have to. of course that can sound like a mental disorder to those who dont share the same compulsion to create
