Actually it's fairly course, I picked it because of the look it gives, if you ever see it in person it looks quite real.
The fur is not elastic but it is still quite mobile, it's all a matter of knowing where to tighten and where to give slack. As far as airbrushing yes, it will be getting this pattern http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2089994/
