Brigadier Corn, at Your Service!
It's Brigadier Corn, officer of the British Army in India, from the 80's cartoon series "Around the World with Willy Fog!" Never saw this particular incarnation of the Jules Verne classic myself, but I drew this for a couple of reasons. For one, I've been meaning to draw a character produced by this animation studio for a while, since many are neat adaptations from classic literature (down the road I'd like to try drawing a few more, maybe from "Dogtanian and the Three Muskethounds"). And though Willy Fog and his entourage have gotten plenty of attention from FA artists, nobody had drawn Brigadier Corn yet! A travesty, right? But primarily I drew this as a thank you for
ant sharing a video he found on Youtube of a rare aircraft that my great uncle test flew in the war. For that matter, he's long overdue for a big thank you for posting so many great photos of classic aircraft! Probably should have drawn him a DeHavilland Mosquito or something instead, but... darn it, I'm a huge Anglophile, and Brigadier Corn is just so impeccably English! I'll draw a plane yet one of these days... right after a few more tanks. :)
It was lots of fun to draw, and was my first shot at a cervine! The map shows early 19th-century British India and came from your friend and mine, Wikimedia Commons.

"doesn't hold a candle to"
"do great justice"
YES! \(^o^)/
I must thank you the only way I know how...POETRY! x3
--> "Be Wary Berry"
Never stop being you, my good man! :u

Pues, perfecto es probablemente demasiado generoso, pero estoy de acuerdo que el uniforme salio muy bien. I 'painted' the wrinkles while zoomed way in, so when I returned to full view I was shocked at how lucky I'd been for them to turn out so well! Still need to learn how to add more nuanced shading effects to faces, though. I'm really glad you like how it turned out - thanks! And next time I'll have to draw a character from a show you did watch as a kid!
For your first attempt at a cervine, this one is very well done. I'm only vaguely familiar with the cartoon myself, but after Googling a bit, I'd say your rendition looks a lot better. I really like the shading, especially on his jacket. I kinda wish my uniforms came out looking as nice. The map background is a very night touch as well. Keep up the good work. :)
hehe Personally I don't think Photoshop is cheating at all, having...used it and failed miserably. They're just two different media. Like Oil Crayons and charcoal. Doesn't mean one if more legitimate then the other. I'm not sure if you'd be game, but considering I can't color that well, maybe we could do a collaboration sometime. I'd love to see how some of my line work would look digitally collard.
That aside though, your line work, anatomy, AND imagination are very solid(yeah I know this is a popular character, but your other works as proof). And I don't think that's something PhotoShop 'does better or less' then any other media. ;)
