After being defeated by Mario and Luigi numerous times, Bowser finally got fed up and ordered all of his Hammer Bros to capture them and take them to his prison. However, one of these Hammer Bros was secretly good friends with the Mario Bros. So, he told them about what was about to happen. After Mario got the news, he ordered Luigi to pack up as they would be on the run for a month or two. But Bowser ended up catching wind of what he told them. He grew furious and ordered Kamek to give him his punishment. But, despite his warning to the Mario Bros, they still wouldn't have freedom for very long as a Sledge Bro found them in Dry Dry Desert after a few hours and were taken to Bowser's prison. They were thankful about it however, since Nabbit stole nearly all of their food and water. After being taken to the prison, they tried escaping when they soon learned that no one would be able to save them, as Daisy, Peach, Toad, and Yoshi were prisoners at Bowser's prison too. During their attempt, Mario heard some laughing coming from a door and checked it out...
