Well this is my area, everything is pretty much self explanatory, the thing next to my PS3 is my external :3
Why am I posting this? well I figured if anyone was curious about what my makeshift gaming area looked like, and also I'd like some info on a few things.
for those who don't know I am currently stuck in SA (which might or might not be evident because of the Arabic rug... there is also a raid box in the pic but you can't see the text x3) and I just recently got my self a PS3 because I FINALLY got money over here (me and my brother have been trying to get cash here for awhile to pay for the tickets home ones we get our passports and for food, I brought over extra for my game console :P) but it kinda sucks since I have 2 PS3s at home already >.>
Anyway, the PS3 is EU, so I know it's gonna cause a few hiccups when I go home, I will be hooking up the system via HDMI so tv standards are not an issue, what I am wondering is that is there anyway way to change the video region or is that hard coded? I guess it's not that big of a deal since I have other PS3s but figured I'd ask :P I do know that the PS3 games are region free, so thats good at least x3
The main thing I am wanting to know about is the power, I read a few things online saying that the power supply in the thing is universal, but the things I found was about the original version of the PS3, does this apply to the slim here? does this mean when I get home I can buy a stranded power cord and it will automatically regulate the power? or am I going to have to get an adapter of some sort?
Thanks for any help that I can get :D
Also list your top five fave games on ether PS3/360/PC (no hand helds please x3) I want to know what you all are playing :3

I don't even have a Wii right now, but if I did I'd probably be playing Fragile Dreams. Or maybe one of those Tales of games...I really don't know. XD;;
Only things I'm currently playing are Suikoden Tierkreis for DS, and then after that Suikoden V. At least until Super Street Fighter IV comes out later this month. XD;

Pretty much all modern electronics are universal (other than having to buy a plug adaptor if they use a different style).
Look on the back of your PS3 and there should be a sticker that says "100 - 240v" and "50 - 100Hz". The US runs 120v @ 60Hz, so as long as it states something around there, it should work just fine.
I don't know much about changing video formats on the PS3. So I don't know if it's NTSC/PAL interchangeable.
As for games:
PC:
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
PS3:
Modern Warfare 2
DJ Hero

Well I got the PS3 for games, if I want I can watch a BD on my other PS3s at home or on my PC, so I aint too worried about videos :P
When I was searching around the web I read a few places where it says the power was in that range, so I guess I should be able to just get an american PS3 power cord and hook it up.

Plugging in a US cable should work, but I still doubt the video signal coming out of it will be compatible with whatever television you have back here in the States since it's more than likely a PAL/SECAM signal coming out of the PS3 and not NTSC/ATSC.
But like I said, I'm not too knowledgeable in the PS3's video signal system, so I don't know if it can change from PAL to NTSC or not.

Unfortunately, HDMI is NTSC/PAL specific just like any other video cable technology.
Though, if your television manufacturer was generous, you may be able to run PAL format video in HD, since HD really isn't a signal format.
Meaning that if you have a fairly high-end set, it may be able to do 576i25, 720p59.94 and 1080i29.97 PAL signals.

Well your setup is a lot better than mine... ><
Mine is simply this crap-tastic lappy of mine which I hope to replace soon but it's not likely.
basically my area is my tiny room in which the only place to sit is my bed...
I have no tv or anything like that in here either so when I'm bored I can't really do anything else without leaving my room.

That's. . .actually not a bad setup. o. o
Anyways, I do live overseas, so I can help a teeny bit: Look at your Transformer on the PS3, typically every electronic has that little box on the chord. (I'm not sure about the PS3 since I haven't seen mine in ages...but I don't think they have that!) Well then, hrm..
Either way, be it on the box or the console itself (I suspect on the console?) Look for these numbers: "100-240V~"
Those numbers mean the range on which everything will work. If your PS3 has that on the back, then it will work virtually anywhere...IF it can plug into the wall!
You shouldn't need a transformer to convert the electricity in the U.S. if it goes down to 100V, but you will need a (Country here) To-American plug. They're usually just little cheap sockets that plug into the wire, so it can fit into the socket.
As for getting the formats to change. . .I have no idea. Everything I'm using is U.S., be it multi-voltage or U.S. only. So far I haven't had any luck with the format gap, either. I'm not sure if there's a way to hack through it.
I hope any of that was helpful?

Feels like a bad setup xD
There is no box, just a power cord, from what I read online (at least for the original PS3s) is that the power range is 100-240v and the power supply is universal, I am guessing I'll be fine to just buy an american cord and hook it up I think, but I wanted to get opinions x3
Well I don't want to hack anything, so if I cant watch disc based movies on it, so be it :P
Thanks for the attempt to help though =D
