Alice Cooper music is now an essential part of an artist's balanced breakfast! Wow, you learn new things every day...
I've just noticed recently, Gen--you have several different ways that you do eyes. Sometimes you do big eyes with large irises, and a large 'highlight' spot overlapping both the iris and the pupil (a bit more anime style, like the badge for clupos here). And then for others, you simply draw a big pupil (no iris) with a much smaller highlight spot (i.e. the other two).
I've even seen you switch back & forth between the different eye types in your comic. What brings you to decide on either method? Or is this just something where you follow whatever strikes your fancy?

It never ceases to amaze me how you notice details like this :) You have such an artist's eye!
I suppose the simplest answer is 'Whatever fits the character'. Shanerous is a zen master from the character description, so I gave him large pupils to reflect a serene thoughtful nature. CL made points to me about the character's cunning and ever so slightly feral nature, so I drew the eyes with an intense color and small feral pupils. Growly was just fun, and with big toony eyes if you draw large pupils it makes the character look calm and/or childlike, while small pupils can denote excitement. And since he was in such a happy pose I went with the latter.
Honestly though, I don't put a lot of conscious thought into it. Expression is the one thing that I draw very well naturally, and a lot of it is simple instinct. (In RL, I am also something of a master at reading people's emotions, to the point I've been told I might be an honest to goodness empath.)
As for Alice Cooper, definitely. I got obsessed with his music about ten years ago and have been a fan ever since. He's actually a really wonderful guy and I've had the pleasure of meeting him once.

I.
AM.
JEALOUS.
It often takes me multiple re-tries, erasing and re-drawing, to get the expression I want, and I really have to focus on it to get it right. The fact that you can do it without much thought makes me want to kidnap you and keep you in a cage so you can help me with all of mine.

Hahaha!
Everyone has that one thing they can do naturally. I've seen people who can do body movement poses perfectly, or get the folds in clothing just right, or do beautiful lighting and shade, or know just what colors to use, or how to ink really well. My knack just happens to be expression. I'm sure you have one too!
