Episode 15: The Key of Ice!
Frozen Shining Void!!
[Sonic Adventure 2 Battle – The Beginning]
“SWEETIE POO?! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, YOU JUST LOST ANY AND ALL PRETENSES OF COOL, HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!” Rick howled.
“OH SHUT UP, RICK!!” Tyson shouted as Sophie dragged him away by the collar of his vest.
“Rick, that was rude and you know it!” Sophie said.
“Aw c’mon, it was funny…” Rick whined still gasping for air.
“Then how would you like it if I started calling you that, Sweetie Poo, all the time?” Sophie said.
“Ehh, ok you gotta point, but it was still funny in the moment right? Right…aww c’mon Sophie!!” Rick called. Half an hour later, Rick and Sophie met up with Cyril and flew off to the west, Elysian Fields, famous for the mysterious Elysian Ruins that litter the region. No one knows who or what built them or what happened to the civilization they belonged to, but they seemed to have a thing for dragons…but there have been strange incidents happening there recently. The people there believe that something sinister has invaded the Ruins and there have been several strange deaths, mostly archeologists who have tried to get in the Ruins.
After half a day of flying, the group reaches Elysian Fields and makes a pit stop a snack shack along the way into town; Cyril simply had something to drink, Sophie and Rick ordered sweet hot buns, another thing that made Elysian Fields famous. But something was strange…unseen to everyone a strange shadow crept across the ground and followed the waitress who had the buns and just as she was about to hand it off to them a hand crept up and smacked the tray out of her hands and onto Rick!!
“YAAHHHHHH!!!!! HOT-HOT-HOT-HOT-HOT-HOT!!!!!” Rick screamed. As Rick panicked the strange shadow slinked away with an evil chuckle. But it didn’t stop there it was like this for the rest of the day; something tripped Rick and made him face-dive into a fountain, then as they were walking after they pulled Rick out of the fountain he stepped on like three tacks and did the one legged pogo. Sophie just thought Rick was having a bad day but he wasn’t so sure…
Night came and the team was about to turn in after talking with archeologists who have gone in the Ruins before these attacks started, they said that the Key they were looking for may be inside the central chamber of the main Ruin, the one that connects all the smaller Ruins together. Rick is outside staring at the moon like he and Sophie used to back home with the Celestial Moons out of nowhere a poison dart flies at his neck when someone somersaulted over him and caught the dart with two fingers.
“Whew, that was certainly a close one wasn’t it?” The young woman turned around and the thing that surprised Rick the most was the fact that she was blind!
“How did you…” Rick stuttered.
“I may have lost the use of my eyes at an early age but that doesn’t mean I can’t see. You’re a dragon, right; you’re here with those other dragons.”
“Wow…that’s amazing…what you just did I mean.” Rick said.
“I see by hearing the wind, feeling the earth beneath me, seeing with other senses that no one else has…oh and my name’s Shari. Say, you wouldn’t happen to know a Tyson Drakes?” Shari asked.
“Yes, he’s one of my friends. You know him?” Rick said.
“He came here a few years ago to learn the art of the Blind Fist fighting style from me; he was the best student I ever had. It seems that you’ve been having a run unseen accidents, normally I’d charge those who want to learn from me but since you’re a friend of my best student I’ll teach you everything I know for free.” Shari said.
“Thanks but…” Shari stopped Rick right there.
“These aren’t random accidents, something is intentionally targeting you but it can’t be seen with ‘regular’ sight, with your powers you might be able to see where these attacks are coming from.” Shari said.
“You think that something is after me and my friends?” Rick asked.
“Well then, we mustn’t waste time then, first thing in the morning meet me back here, I’ll have everything already setup.” And with that she walked off leaving Rick to think about her training offer…
Morning comes and stirs Sophie who finds that Rick is already gone. She gets dressed and exits the room and sees Rick’s black bladed tail swishing around outside, she walks out and finds him balancing on top of a 3 foot high wooden pole on one foot…blindfolded!

“Now, what do you see Rick?” Shari asked.
“I’ve never noticed this before; I see…black flames and when I put my feet on them it’s the wooden poles.” Rick said.
“Well done, now what about me?” Shari asked.
“A much larger flame in the shape of a body.” Rick answered.
“Rick, what are you doing?” Sophie asked. Shari jumped and flipped off the poles and introduced herself to Sophie. Just then the shadow strikes again and moves a pole that Rick was about to step on, he lost balance, the pole came out from under him. There was a crash and the sound of wooden blocks hitting the ground, Rick lifts his head only to be bonked in the head by one last block, “Aww man…”
After prying Rick off the ground, Sophie and Cyril left to investigate the Ruins; Shari is very adamant about her students and wouldn’t let Rick leave until the lesson was completed. The next lesson was dodging swinging blocks blindfolded. Shari went first; with just the slightest of movements left and right she effortlessly dodged the blocks, Rick’s jaw just dropped as Shari slipped out of the swinging blocks. Rick went in and instantly got tangled up in everything. After several trials and errors Rick finally dialed in the movement of the blocks and his new sight ability, ‘Dark Sight’, sees the black flames on the blocks coming from all directions.
Sophie and Cyril return and the archeologists theory was right, there was evidence that the Key was there but something was keeping them out. Rick had finished Shari’s training, which took the entire day so he reeked to high heaven and almost passed out in the tub if it wasn’t for Sophie bringing him around. The third morning came and Rick was shaken awake by Sophie who was panicking.
“Rick wake up Cyril is gone! His room is a mess!! WAKE UP!!!” Sophie screamed. She was right, Cyril’s room was destroyed, and suddenly a chilling laughter came out of nowhere.
“AH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA, Well this is a fine turn of events, don’tcha think? I keep myself occupied by offing a few dozen humans and now I get dragons in the bargain, AH-HA-HA-HA-HA!!! You guys destroyed my brother, ShadowKiller, and now I’m gonna kill you all!!!” Rick swings around only to be smashed clear across the room, suddenly a cage appeared around Sophie with spikes on the inside inches away from her, “AH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-AH-HA-HA-HA-HA, If you want to save your girlfriend, dragon-boy, just try and get into the Master Ruin and maybe then you can see me kill her and your blue friend, AHHHH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!!!” Rick tried to tackle the insane clown but he and Sophie vanished in an explosion of confetti but Rick sensed something was wrong, suddenly he Shadow Warped everybody that was around Cyril’s room outside just as an explosion tore the hotel apart! Rick took off into the air towards the Master Ruin, this guy was insane! Needlessly killing innocent people, Rick has to stop this guy, trust me you don’t want to do anything like kidnapping Sophie in front of Rick!! Rick finally arrives at the entrance of the Master Ruins and finds Shari waiting for him.
“You’re going to fight him aren’t you?” she asks.
“I have to save Sophie and Cyril…”
“This monster has lined the inside of the Ruins with traps, so I am coming with you as well.” Shari said.
“Sorry but it’d be too dangerous for you to tag along, you could get hurt or worse from this guy.” Rick said.
“You’re still in training with your new ability and I don’t think you’ll be able to invoke it every time it’s needed; besides it’s only after I see you in action will I give you my full approval. So I’m coming with you whether you like it or not now let’s get going!” Shari said. Rick was against the idea but she has a point, he wasn’t sure exactly sure how his new Dark Sight ability worked so if he went in there on his own he might as well be going in blind anyway so reluctantly he follows behind Shari into the ruin entrance.
It was dark and decrepit, Rick unknowingly stepped on a floor switch and something swung out in front of them, “Rick DUCK!” Shari ducked in time, Rick not so much. It was an arm with pan connected to it that smacked him in the face, after almost getting lost in a maze Shari and Rick step over a tripwire but Rick’s tail caught the wire on one of his tail blades, panels in the walls slid open and it could have been spears, it could have been poison darts, but NOOOO, it had to be fricken CREAM PIES!!!! Splat, right on Rick’s head!
“I…HATE…THAT…CLOWN!!!!”
“AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, now that’s real prop comedy! Hey, why aren’t you two laughing, this is good stuff! Ohohoh, your boyfriend is about to trip…yes…c’mon…” (clashing-crash) “WHOO, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, the old pan dropping from the ceiling gag never gets old, C’MON, this pure gold here!” Cyril and Sophie were not laughing, “Wow, tough crowd, tough crowd…”, he slinked over to Sophie in her cage with a freakish toothy grin from ear to ear and said, “But don’t you worry my dear, once your boyfriend trips my final trap, instead of saving the girl or going out with a bang he and his friend will be going out with a SPLAT!!! (Maniacal Echoing Laugh) But always a pleasure to crash his laugh fest, Rick and Shari smashed through the wall sending a brick flying into the clowns gaping mouth.
“Alright clown, shows over. Time to play a little game I like to call ‘Pop the Insane Clown’!” Rick growled. Shari shrieked when the crazy jester guy snatched her and stuck her in a cage that…he was…already standing beside?!
“Hmm, not bad kid…”
“Actually, your laughing gave your location away and a few well placed Void Blasts opened the door.” Rick said.
“Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeh, whatever; I’m guessing you want your friends back hmm? WELL UNLESS I GET MY BROTHER BACK ALL YOU’RE GONNA GET BACK IS THEIR BONES!!!!” the clown stomps his foot and hits a panel that drops the cages into pit of jagged, churning spikes and saw blades, “GAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, LOOKS LIKE I GET THE LAST LAUGH!!!!” Suddenly something came flying at the clown from behind Rick…Exploding Shurikens!!!
“Guess again, Griny Magee!!” Rick looked behind him and saw Cyril, Shari, and Sophie unharmed with a young human with a katana and a black vest with a red X symbol and a gold C overlapping it on his back, black hair with white tips.
“No it can’t be, YOUR NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE BORN YET!!!” the clown swung his jester staff toward the mysterious kid but he just turned around and swung his katana far too fast to be seen by the naked eye, a Hyper-SonicBoom erupts off his sword and slices through the clowns blast and tears through the rest of the ruins in that direction.
“Whoa, I’ve never seen such power…who is he?” Rick thought.
“If you’re thinking that I’m an enemy, relax, I’m the farthest thing from it.”
“How did you…”
“This eye of mine lets me see others thoughts, moves and allows me to copy others techniques.” He points to his bright red eye with and X shaped scar on it when his left eye is sky blue.
“Who are you?” Rick asks.
“……Django Ragnarok of the Ragnarok Family from the year 4999, the Descendant of the Legendary Warrior of the year 2999 and Leader of the Cosmic Warriors. And I’ve been chasing this moron throughout the time stream keeping him from disrupting everything into oblivion, but I see that he messed with your friends first so you get the honor of kicking his ass!” Django said.
[Dissidia Final Fantasy OST Battle Theme FFIX]
Rick roars at the clown and his sword Razor-Edge appears and the clown, Kaos Jester, swung his staff as spikes topped with laughing clown heads break out of the ground and try and bite at Rick but he dodges them all effortlessly all of a sudden he’s mastered his Dark Sight ability!! He slashes at Jester but he poofs away in a shower of confetti that explode, Rick is thrown into the air and then double kicked in the chest, Jester then just repeatedly stomps and hums a little diddle on Rick’s chest before kicking him in the face and to the ground. Rick lands with a crash and Razor-Edge is knocked from his hand, just as Jester landed he multiplied and scattered everywhere, laughing and jeering, and NOW Rick’s Dark Sight shorts out as the Jester’s swarm him!
He tries to fire a Void Beam but every time he tries a Jester uppercuts him and then another smashes his shoulder, he’s tripped and then he’s really swarmed, he’s smashed, kicked and slashed before being slammed into the ground with such force that the entire lower section of the chamber became a crater! Sophie disappears again and now Jester has a blade to her chest, “Looks like I still WIN, AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
(BOOM) Suddenly an eruption of incredible power surged forth from the center of the crater, Rick emerges from under the rubble with an amazing aura emanating from him, “Get…”, every footstep he takes the rubble under his foot breaks apart, “…away…”, a powerful wind was pouring out of the ruins, “…from…”, he glared at Jester with an incredible ferocity, “….MY GIRLFRIEND!!!!”
“You just don’t DIE do you!!!?” Jester points his blade at Rick and hundreds of Jesters poured out but Rick simply caught one out of all of them, around the neck and the one by Sophie disappeared, “Oh ow, nice catch!”
[Dissidia Final Fantasy OST Clash on the Big Bridge Arrange FFV]
A black flame erupted down his back and to his tail, his tail blades extended out and a massive flame exploded from his tail tip, spikes appeared on his shoulders and ten pointed red stars appeared on his eyes, his ten horns lengthened and curved toward the front of his snout, “You messed with the wrong dragons girl freak!” Without even putting much effort into it he tossed Jester into the far wall with ridiculous power.
He reached into a void that appeared next to him and pulled out Razor-Edge but then he swung it into the void and suddenly his sword transformed, a form that he couldn’t unleash in his adventures before, Drages Razor-Edge, the first unsealed fang. The blade was lined with sharp teeth, the tip curved into that of a scythe, along the back of the blade a jet of Void energy was burning forth!
Jester tried to charge him but Rick appeared beside him in an instant and as he swung his sword the Void Jet made it move even faster and with more force, Jester was imbedded into the wall at the opposite side in an instant. All the Jester copies couldn’t touch the new Dark Mode Rick; his new Dark Sight ability was constantly active and he could see each and every fake and slash at scores of them in one go.
“Now this move I saw on TV a while ago and it goes something like this, GETSUGA TENSHO!!!!” A massive black sonic-boom tears right at Jester and when it makes contact it explodes into a blackhole, all that’s left is Jester’s scepter and a smoking nose.
Black flames circled around Rick’s feet before engulfing him and reverting back to normal. He placed him hand on Drages Razor-Edge and changes it back to normal, spins it around and carries it likes Cloud!
“Sophie..!” “Rick..!” They didn’t say anything after that they just hugged.
“If you had that kind of power all this time why didn’t you…” Cyril asked.
“Because I already knew that he was going to win, if I had, then he wouldn’t have awakened the ability to transform nor unseal his Razor-Edge, Cyril.” Django answered.
“How did…”
“I’m from the future…I knew this would happen and I knew that this would be where I could find Jester.” Suddenly an ice blue jewel appeared before Rick, the Ice Key, the moment he touches the key multiple statutes erupt out of the ground outside the Ruins, the lights from their gemstones shot out toward Avalar City just as several other lights flew to the same location at the same time.
“Y’know, we, could really use your help Django, you’re young but you’re by far the most powerful fighter I’ve ever seen.” Rick said.
“Thanks Rick but I gotta say no. You see, my family’s ancestors haven’t even been born yet, and this isn’t my story; it’s your’s.” Django’s body began to fade out, “Huh, don’t worry; I’m just going back to my own time period. I have the ability to travel through time but I think I might have overdone it, but just leave the future to me; you guys take this guy and that thing he made out of commission……oh and you two, your kid is going to be an incredible fighter, she’s one of Planet Avalar’s best heroes from the Time-Crossover Battle here in my time-time-time-time……” Django had vanished back to his own time. Rick and the rest said goodbye to Shari and thanks before heading off. Rick and Sophie’s daughter grows up to be a hero and travels through time and Django meets her?!! Wow, just thinking about that just makes the two of them blush every time they look at each other…
Django is a character from my first story but it started getting way too long and ideas were drying up so I scraped it on DA but I still plan on editing and remixing it now that I have more experience. I started it in sophomore year of high school so you can think of how bad it was...

So I’m coming with you whether you like it or not now let’s get going!” Shari said. Rick was against the idea but she has a point, he wasn’t sure exactly sure how his new Dark Sight ability worked so if he went in there on his own he might as well be going in blind anyway so reluctantly he follows behind Shari into the ruin entrance.
It was dark and decrepit, Rick unknowingly stepped on a floor switch and something swung out in front of them, “Rick DUCK!” Shari ducked in time, Rick not so much. It was an arm with pan connected to it that smacked him in the face, after almost getting lost in a maze Shari and Rick step over a tripwire but Rick’s tail caught the wire on one of his tail blades, panels in the walls slid open and it could have been spears, it could have been poison darts, but NOOOO, it had to be fricken CREAM PIES!!!! Splat, right on Rick’s head!
“I…HATE…THAT…CLOWN!!!!”
“AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, now that’s real prop comedy! Hey, why aren’t you two laughing, this is good stuff! Ohohoh, your boyfriend is about to trip…yes…c’mon…” (clashing-crash) “WHOO, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, the old pan dropping from the ceiling gag never gets old, C’MON, this pure gold here!” Cyril and Sophie were not laughing, “Wow, tough crowd, tough crowd…”, he slinked over to Sophie in her cage with a freakish toothy grin from ear to ear and said, “But don’t you worry my dear, once your boyfriend trips my final trap, instead of saving the girl or going out with a bang he and his friend will be going out with a SPLAT!!! (Maniacal Echoing Laugh) But always a pleasure to crash his laugh fest, Rick and Shari smashed through the wall sending a brick flying into the clowns gaping mouth.
“Alright clown, shows over. Time to play a little game I like to call ‘Pop the Insane Clown’!” Rick growled. Shari shrieked when the crazy jester guy snatched her and stuck her in a cage that…he was…already standing beside?!
“Hmm, not bad kid…”
“Actually, your laughing gave your location away and a few well placed Void Blasts opened the door.” Rick said.
“Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeh, whatever; I’m guessing you want your friends back hmm? WELL UNLESS I GET MY BROTHER BACK ALL YOU’RE GONNA GET BACK IS THEIR BONES!!!!” the clown stomps his foot and hits a panel that drops the cages into pit of jagged, churning spikes and saw blades, “GAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, LOOKS LIKE I GET THE LAST LAUGH!!!!” Suddenly something came flying at the clown from behind Rick…Exploding Shurikens!!!
“Guess again, Griny Magee!!” Rick looked behind him and saw Cyril, Shari, and Sophie unharmed with a young human with a katana and a black vest with a red X symbol and a gold C overlapping it on his back, black hair with white tips.
“No it can’t be, YOUR NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE BORN YET!!!” the clown swung his jester staff toward the mysterious kid but he just turned around and swung his katana far too fast to be seen by the naked eye, a Hyper-SonicBoom erupts off his sword and slices through the clowns blast and tears through the rest of the ruins in that direction.
“Whoa, I’ve never seen such power…who is he?” Rick thought.
“If you’re thinking that I’m an enemy, relax, I’m the farthest thing from it.”
“How did you…”
“This eye of mine lets me see others thoughts, moves and allows me to copy others techniques.” He points to his bright red eye with and X shaped scar on it when his left eye is sky blue.
“Who are you?” Rick asks.
“……Django Ragnarok of the Ragnarok Family from the year 4999, the Descendant of the Legendary Warrior of the year 2999 and Leader of the Cosmic Warriors. And I’ve been chasing this moron throughout the time stream keeping him from disrupting everything into oblivion, but I see that he messed with your friends first so you get the honor of kicking his ass!” Django said.

Rick roars at the clown and his sword Razor-Edge appears and the clown, Kaos Jester, swung his staff as spikes topped with laughing clown heads break out of the ground and try and bite at Rick but he dodges them all effortlessly all of a sudden he’s mastered his Dark Sight ability!! He slashes at Jester but he poofs away in a shower of confetti that explode, Rick is thrown into the air and then double kicked in the chest, Jester then just repeatedly stomps and hums a little diddle on Rick’s chest before kicking him in the face and to the ground. Rick lands with a crash and Razor-Edge is knocked from his hand, just as Jester landed he multiplied and scattered everywhere, laughing and jeering, and NOW Rick’s Dark Sight shorts out as the Jester’s swarm him!
He tries to fire a Void Beam but every time he tries a Jester uppercuts him and then another smashes his shoulder, he’s tripped and then he’s really swarmed, he’s smashed, kicked and slashed before being slammed into the ground with such force that the entire lower section of the chamber became a crater! Sophie disappears again and now Jester has a blade to her chest, “Looks like I still WIN, AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
(BOOM) Suddenly an eruption of incredible power surged forth from the center of the crater, Rick emerges from under the rubble with an amazing aura emanating from him, “Get…”, every footstep he takes the rubble under his foot breaks apart, “…away…”, a powerful wind was pouring out of the ruins, “…from…”, he glared at Jester with an incredible ferocity, “….MY GIRLFRIEND!!!!”
“You just don’t DIE do you!!!?” Jester points his blade at Rick and hundreds of Jesters poured out but Rick simply caught one out of all of them, around the neck and the one by Sophie disappeared, “Oh ow, nice catch!”

A black flame erupted down his back and to his tail, his tail blades extended out and a massive flame exploded from his tail tip, spikes appeared on his shoulders and ten pointed red stars appeared on his eyes, his ten horns lengthened and curved toward the front of his snout, “You messed with the wrong dragons girl freak!” Without even putting much effort into it he tossed Jester into the far wall with ridiculous power.
He reached into a void that appeared next to him and pulled out Razor-Edge but then he swung it into the void and suddenly his sword transformed, a form that he couldn’t unleash in his adventures before, Drages Razor-Edge, the first unsealed fang. The blade was lined with sharp teeth, the tip curved into that of a scythe, along the back of the blade a jet of Void energy was burning forth!
Jester tried to charge him but Rick appeared beside him in an instant and as he swung his sword the Void Jet made it move even faster and with more force, Jester was imbedded into the wall at the opposite side in an instant. All the Jester copies couldn’t touch the new Dark Mode Rick; his new Dark Sight ability was constantly active and he could see each and every fake and slash at scores of them in one go.
“Now this move I saw on TV a while ago and it goes something like this, GETSUGA TENSHO!!!!” A massive black sonic-boom tears right at Jester and when it makes contact it explodes into a blackhole, all that’s left is Jester’s scepter and a smoking nose.
Black flames circled around Rick’s feet before engulfing him and reverting back to normal. He placed him hand on Drages Razor-Edge and changes it back to normal, spins it around and carries it likes Cloud!
“Sophie..!” “Rick..!” They didn’t say anything after that they just hugged.
“If you had that kind of power all this time why didn’t you…” Cyril asked.
“Because I already knew that he was going to win, if I had, then he wouldn’t have awakened the ability to transform nor unseal his Razor-Edge, Cyril.” Django answered.
“How did…”
“I’m from the future…I knew this would happen and I knew that this would be where I could find Jester.” Suddenly an ice blue jewel appeared before Rick, the Ice Key, the moment he touches the key multiple statutes erupt out of the ground outside the Ruins, the lights from their gemstones shot out toward Avalar City just as several other lights flew to the same location at the same time.
“Y’know, we, could really use your help Django, you’re young but you’re by far the most powerful fighter I’ve ever seen.” Rick said.
“Thanks Rick but I gotta say no. You see, my family’s ancestors haven’t even been born yet, and this isn’t my story; it’s your’s.” Django’s body began to fade out, “Huh, don’t worry; I’m just going back to my own time period. I have the ability to travel through time but I think I might have overdone it, but just leave the future to me; you guys take this guy and that thing he made out of commission……oh and you two, your kid is going to be an incredible fighter, she’s one of Planet Avalar’s best heroes from the Time-Crossover Battle here in my time-time-time-time……” Django had vanished back to his own time. Rick and the rest said goodbye to Shari and thanks before heading off. Rick and Sophie’s daughter grows up to be a hero and travels through time and Django meets her?!! Wow, just thinking about that just makes the two of them blush every time they look at each other…
Django is a character from my first story but it started getting way too long and ideas were drying up so I scraped it on DA but I still plan on editing and remixing it now that I have more experience. I started it in sophomore year of high school so you can think of how bad it was...
