I finally get to submit these heeereee! SO HAPPY! I was waiting since the first day I joined FA to post these- and now I can!
I did these this year for Valentine's day- but was so busy I didn't get to finish them until the end of the Feb. But that doesn't mean they are any less adorable and horribly punny! XD
Probably my favorite Romance Movie story/trilogy ever- Underworld.
I don't care about how many people criticized the film, didn't think the werewolves "looked good" or whatever- these movies were VERY intelligent, demanded that the audience know some European History (specifically the Eastern European) as well as Greek mythology, and had so many well put together symbolic scenes that it was the kind of movie that made me yearn to do something like it.
It was also the first time where the female heroine was ACTUALLY a heroine- not the kind of “hero” who is the main character but still cares about her shoes and pretty in pink sparkles. Selene acts and thinks like a mercenary woman- and even her romance with Michael isn’t over-done in the “girly” sense. Michael is the kind of man I'm very attracted to- the socially awkward, celibate and intelligent.. not so much muscle and he is brain, and his courage manifests for the sake of protection of his own relations. By far, the first movie in my LIFE that I could relate to the female heroine in it.
This also was the first time in the 27 years history of my life I actually acquired a FEMALE role model- because Selene is WORTHY of that title.
So onto Valentine’s day- a holiday I am fond of. Regardless that people spout that it’s commercial- and maybe it is- I’d rather have a commercial holiday that makes you LOVE your family and friends than hate them. Heaven forbid someone asks you to be nice and thoughtful to another human being for the day- oh the horror worth criticizing and venomously attacking [/sarcasm].
But also my idea of “Romance” isn’t in the “pretty and pink Girly” kind… so imagine the merge of my cute and cuddly with my love for werewolves, beasts, and warring arts? Well, you get these.
About the Valentine- Viktor
I love Viktor.
I honestly do.
We have many jokes of my liking Viktor in my sphere of friends. Specifically one that was born out of a deliberate misinterpretation to one of my statements.
I had brought up the fact that Viktor- not withstanding his racial and extreme selfish/idealism and acts thereof- was a good father. You can CLEARLY see the elevated level of conduct and preference he has toward his "daughters" and his sanctity he bestows upon them ever so obsessively- as well as affection. It never fails to make me smile when he scoffs at Selene for kneeling before him, or how they first engage in a quite "boy talk" before getting down to business. It's really an example of the kinds of bonds we no longer have in our societies with our fathers. We are left with those that would rather idolize and champion Homer Simpson or Peter Griffen than Professor Utonium.
Well of course, what I said was being badly butchered by my twin sister who would poke endless fun at me, and claimed I said "Viktor was a good father" TOTALLY out of context. So it's a running gag now. I even have an MSN icon that reads "Viktor- father of the Year, BC and AD".
Yes, I know Viktor's a complete dick; but if it wasn't for the murder and betraying thing, he would be a good dad. XD
