I haven’t seen this as much of a thing/trend here but it’s been on DA and Instagram. I felt like I should try and join an art trend for once because I’ve ignored most of the fun little community trends that go on for almost my entire time being an artist. I asked my followers on Instagram to suggest characters and I chose my 6 favorites ;p
Also made my own Saphira design because i have very,, strong,, opinions over the “scaled and webbed” saphira designs. Literally the book AND the movie have her FEATHERED I literally don’t understand why ppl make her scaled and webbed it looks so wrong to me smh >:( *angry Saphira fan intensifies* (Eragon was the first dragon movie I watched and Saphira was what got me into dragons I love her and she is FLUFFY fite me >:\ )
Honestly I don’t care but like I will always see her as feathered and that my strong opinion and preference :>
ANYWAY this was fun, not sure if ppl here really care but I thought I’d share it with y’all since at least I like how it turned out xD
also shortened my watermark for this cuz i couldn't fit it or the date. While it is convenient, i'm not sure if I really like the short watermark because with my full watermark i can fit the date under it whereas with the short one I cant and it doesn't look clean at all (trust me i tried xD) and I refuse to sign my work without the date

ryskadragons play borderlands 3 and spotted Hermes in the darkness and was like "whO is THAT" xD it was inevitable that I was going to end up drawing him hehe
also aa thx! eventually I'll get to drawing her again,, maybe I'll work on a fullbody design as my next piece of her and then all the nsfw and sfw fanart will follow after that xD

I've actually been working on my humans for a while now (like a year or so) xD mostly humanoid though,, for my story n stuff (characters like Ender and Zerik are actually a humanoid species specifically for the main universe I have and so recently I've been working really hard to improve human anatomy). Not sure how well I'll be able to do a full human but it could be a fun prompt to try out :P

I am really proud of Saphira though, I want to make a fullbody of my design for her incase someone wants to draw my design or something (also for future arts I want to do with her ;> )

i definitely want to (probably repeating myself like 4 time now xD) I actually want to do a fullbody for my design for her so I and maybe others if they want can use the design for nsfw or sfw art xD Idk when exactly I will finish it but it's definitely on my to-do list!
ah yeah, I watched the movie first so my image of her was always movie Saphira. I barely remember the book at all because it's been so long but yeah, most Saphira art i see is her scaled with standard webbed dragon wings, which is totally cool,, but my preference is movie Saphira design because it's been ingrained how i see or imagine her.
hmm, yeah, the movie is lowkey crap and doesn't stay true to the book at all which is why i wish they'd just remake the movie, keep it truer to the book, and maybe actually continue with the other books. but since i didnt read the book first i have a soft spot for the movie,, however since i'm reading the book again (and gonna finish the series this time) i can say i definitely prefer the book

I'm with you that I've always preferred feathered Saphira to scaled Saphira. As rough as that movie is at times, they really did a lovely job with her. (For the record though, the books are *really* explicit that she's scaled and not feathered.)

I really dont mind the idea of her having small scales on her body, it's just when people make her fully skin with webbed wings that bothers me because I know her visually the most from the movie xD from the movie it looks like her body is covered in small scales for her belly and the further towards her spine it gets feathered/soft?? it's honestly hard to tell but her wings are definitely feathered with the webbed shape which I love

It doesn't so much bother me when people opt for scales, but rather I simply don't recognize her as Saphira until they say it's supposed to be her since I always picture her movie form instead, lol ^^

honestly I tried getting as clean of a shot off of google for that and to me it looks like skin or small feathery scales(like flexible scales)??? at least along her neck and belly it looks more like flexible feathery scales because of how organized they look but it could also be skin,, who knows tbh
also I see a lot of scaled and skin Saphira and I can never really recognize her either until I read the caption or someone tells me its supposed to be her :,D
